Hi I'm Viv,
It was not until a few minutes ago I worked out that my infertility was classed as secondary infertility. You would have thought after my tests at the hospital they would have told me. LOL I have been joining infertility forums but felt as if I never really belonged. LOL
Anyhow, I am erm..................................3............ ...................................9 years old I have 2 wonderful boys 6 and 4 and have had 4 losses since the birth of my last son. My last miscarriage being Feb of this year.
15wks '06,
8wks '07,
7wks '08,
9wks '09,
With my last loss I thought I would go all the way as I had passed a couple of milestones but that was not to be the case.
My dream is just one more that's all I wanted. I pray that I am you all will get our babies soon. I know there is hope as I read a couple success stories.
Anyway that's me, hope to speak to some of you soon.
Viv

Hey Viv.
I'm glad you found us at last! It can be difficult talking about wanting another child and feeling sad when there are those out there trying for their first!
I have been ttc my second since Apr 2007 and had one miscarriage Dec 2007 but nothing since. Its good that you can atleast catch an eggie! Hopefully you find some good advice here!
What did the doc tests reveal? Do they know why you have miscarried? As I have 'low progesterone' I have researched alot into it ....have you been offered Progesterone Supposities once you got pregnant? My doc says they usually give it to women who miscarry 3 times.
Between 10 and 12 weeks the body switches to making progesterone from the placenta instead of the corpus lutem (shell of the fertilised egg) and that can be a tricky point as if there is a drop it can cause a mc.
Just something to look into! I always tell people as if it helps it helps!

Hiya Amanda and Mommy2Dakota
I am sorry to hear about your losses. I send you both lots of love and I truly believe there is hope for all of us. Thanks for you words of support.
I was listening and reading articles today where it states women who have secondary infertility have little support and sympathy from others and it is so true, it is also an unknown subject again this is so true, on the majority of the fertility boards you don't find a section for this, as I said before I only discovered today that I have this.
My husband and I had tests done in March of this year and they said there is no medical reason why we can not conceive. The only issue they can see is my tender years. They have given a 60% chance of a successful pregnancy. Late last year I had a scan to check for fibroids, they did a stomach scan and not a vaginal scan they said all was clear. I don't believe this. During this scan they say an egg waiting to be released LOL this is the egg I caught but lost in Feb 09.
The reason I don't believe I don't have fibroids is that since my last birth I now have very heavy periods with clots I have ovulation pains all of which I did not have before, when I consulted my nurse and she did an internal she said she could feel something this is why she sent me for the scan. Maybe I should have insisted that they had done an internal????, also my Sister has just had a tone of fibroids removed, I heard it can run in the family???
The consultant did say that as soon as I get pregnant again I must call them and they will take over my care, they did speak about aspirins and also progesterone.
I'm due on tomorrow so we will see........................................

Hi Renee
Yes our stories are similar, I hope we also have a similar conclusion and our dreams of having more children are realised.
Thank you also for helping to maintain this group as it is very much needed.

Welcome to the group. I am Stephanie, the other co-host here. I have two children Sierra (11) and Will (8) and 7 precious angels. My two living children are from my first marriage and all 7 of my angels are from my current marriage. We have been TTC since March 2006. The RE ran tons of tests and found no reason why we can't conceive and have a successful pregnancy. We used Clomid and TTC on our own again for another year with yet another loss. Now we are going to head back to see the RE again this spring and possibly move on to more advanced treatments.
I am looking forward to getting to know you better and I wish you lots of luck TTC. I hope you get the BFP you want very soon!

You probably have already had this checked but... have you had your thyroid checked? I know it is VERY common in women & more common the older you get. It also can cause recurrent m/c's if untreated. I'm hypo actually... we found it during some fertility b/w. Just a thought!

Welcome to our board. I'm Marie, I've got both primary and secondary infertility, two pregnancies, one resulting in m/c in Oct 05, the 2nd resulting in my DS Nolan in Oct 06. We've been TTC#2 since his birth. In Feb 09 I went through a failed IVF cycle, dx as a poor responder, but no other reasons for my infertility. In May 09, a twin adoption miraculously fell into our laps, but I'm here hoping to get pg on my own one day. Good luck. It would be nice if they could tell you why you've had such late m/c, progesterone?, thyroid?, IR? Good luck to you!

You got alot there to think about Viv!
Oh, and with your age (its not that old btw) but for peace of mind have you tried one of those new fertility tests? I'm sure the docs would have mentioned if there was a problem - but even so, I did try one. (I'm 30 and did wonder if my eggs were OK). It is supposed to tell you if you have good egg quality and quantity...something like that.
PRIVATE Babystart Female Fertility Test (2 Tests) on eBay (end time 04-Dec-09 09:18:25 GMT)
(I'm in the UK so you'd have to look for it on the U.S eBay or online)

Hi
I just want to sincerely thank all of you for you kind words of support.
also thanks for the info on Fertility test i will look into this, I have considered that maybe my quality of eggs were no longer up to standard and maybe I was not ovulating every month. (I'm from Birmingham UK) sorry must update my profile.
Yes InHishands, my FSH was checked all OK, saying that when I was pregnant with my last live child I lived in Italy and they were concerned about my FSH, I had to go for many tests and xray. Maybe this could be a prob I have during pregnancy (just a thought).
Anyway LOL I feel at home already LOL
Thank you all once again.

I'm sure you mean TSH! FSH is what they check for your ovarian reserve & if I'm not mistaken what the fertility test Jo (Mommy2Dakota) suggested tests for.

Hi Viv. Welcome to the board. I am 36 and dh is 41. We are ttc number 5 together. I had a really hard time coming to terms with the fact that I had secondary infertility. I still have a hard time with it. This board has been really great. It is nice to be around other moms who can relate.

Oh wow, your not far from me! I'm in Oxford! I get so used to seeing so many U.S people here! (and they're great! )
We took my daughter to the Sealife centre in Birmingham just this year for her birthday!
Anyhoo, with ttc and ovulating you could look into charting to see if you are ovulating every cycle. I would say you are with all the eggies you've caught....? I'd even say your egg quality is OK becuase you have got to 2mths pregs. It has to be some preg hormone that faulters rather than ovulation one (just my guess!). I haven't got that far to know much about beyond getting a bfp. I'd look into herbal remedies that balance hormones and are safe to take throughout early pregnancy maybe?
Even something like taking Red Raspberry Leaf and drinking Pineapple juice -both of which strenghens and conditions the uterus lining!
