DH and I are kind of considering trying an at home insemination. I found a place where I can buy a home kit really cheap. What do you think? Would you be willing to try this?

Northwest Andrology & Cryobank - Category
We are looking at the Deluxe kit.

We BOTH are just going a bit crazy realizing that we are 'on-hold' for a few months, and running out of time for a 2010 baby. When we first started trying we thought we were looking at an early 2007 baby.

If you're already able to get pg Steph, how is this any different than BDing? It sounds like a home iui kit without the meds and sperm spinning. I don't imagine it'll hurt anything, but I'm not sure what it'll accomplish if they don't know why your baby beans won't stick?

The doc thinks I might have hostile CM and that is causing problems with the sperm, leading to my losses. He wants to try IUI because he thinks that if we just bypass my mucous.... success.

We do plan on doing IUI this spring if need be, but can't before then because of how far it is to the RE's office and bad weather and whatnot. Considering trying this in the mean time so that if it did work....save the money of going to do the same thing with the RE.

Hey Stef! AS I am one to want to try anything too...ANYthing just to have that chance...my first instinct is 'yeah, me too me too'....but reading the discription? I can't see how that little syringe will really put the spermies any closer than your hub just keeping his *ahem* inside you as far as it goes anyways. I'm not a hundred percent on all the details of IUI but I am guessing they have the tools to go further into the cervix? Plus I guess they time it more perfect to ovulation?

I'm guessing you've tried pre-seed for your hostile cm (I think mine is too as I never get very good fertile cm signs).

I'm not saying don't get it cos I believe everything is worth a shot to ease the waiting. And if it does work? Well..thats more worth than anything!

I am really happy and excited to be having a baby although knowing Im going it alone this time is a bit daunting and scary!

Honestly if I were facing an IUI down the road I'd probably go ahead and try it. If it works great, if not then you'll have a professional IUI coming up to give it another chance.

I guess what I think is whats is gonna hurt? If you have the $75 to spare and want to do it then go for it. It will help you feel like your contributing something during the time before the IUI and if you end up pg and sticky, then all the less money spent...right? Go for it! Let us know how it works. My dh would be like OMG that is way too intrusive, what happened to making love...yeah he still doesn't get it.

If they're pretty sure its a hostile CM thing, then go for it, as long as you can figure out how to get the catheter in your cervix, it should be fine--they usually use a lighted speculum to find placement, so that could be interesting at home...

Well, the kit has a speculum, and if all else fails... DH does have a little penlight that we can use!
