I never thought ttc would be this tough.

My daughter we stopped bc bills in July 2002 started charting in Aug/Sept, started trying in Sept, got pregnant in Dec 2002 with her. She was born August 2003 * a month early but 7lbs 13oz 20" *

Fast forward to April 05 we had already been ttc#2 for 6months.. that pregnancy ended in a m/c at 5wks, kept charting but was missing temps thinking i didnt O it was now May 2005 i finalyl took a hpt after having + opks for 5days in a row. Got a blaring + at what was 14dpo i had been getting + opks since 9dpo. That pregnancy ended in a missed m/c in July2005 passed the baby at what should had been 13wks4days gestation, when they pregnancy was dated i knew it was over because the dr tried to tell me i was wrong about my dates since at what was 11wks the baby measured 6wks 1 wk later when i started bleeding and went to the ER that u/s they measured my uterus at 11 or 12wks and the baby measured 8wks and had a deformed yolk sack.

We waited 1 cycle and got pregnant with out son in Aug/Sept 2005 He was born May 2006 * at 38wks4days and huge 8lbs 14oz 22" *

We started ttc #3 in July 2007

I've had a few chemicals since starting to ttc again.

We've passed the 2 yr mark and are inching closer to the 3yr mark.

Aww so many losses. Although you managed to hold on to two so plenty of hope there! I am not even having MC's.

Have you had tests done on why? Is there a plan for when you catch that eggie again???

I keep saying i'm going to finally get a referral to a RE but never do. I did attempt once but learned i cant get a referral to a RE from my OBGYN thought that was pretty stupid. I have to get it from my PCP who i've never seen because i'm hardly ever sick so i'd have to make a appt with him pay a $15 co pay just to get a referral to a RE and one RE on our insurance i was looking at for just a consultation it would be $230 and then + a $30 co pay since it's a specialist. and then having no one to watch my son while going to the appointment. he's in preschool but its only 2hours if that 5days a wk.

I feel like the only thing that would get me to make the appt to get a referral is if i have a missed m/c or when we pass the 3yr mark.

Hmm...well, I feel I should say this even though you really should have a DR diagnose you and give you tests....but, based on my own research into this I wonder if you could get yourself some progesterone creme (or supposities if you can get them without prescription). If you are OK catching an egg it could be that you Ovulate just fine but need that progesterone boost to maintain the pregnancy? Progesterone is frequently given to women who have had 3 MC's.

If the fault IS with the egg, maybe try some Soya Isoflavones (you can see some posts on here about it) for a stronger O and then the progesterone for after.

There are also a number of fertility herbs about? I'm still trying to find something to work for me but it does sound like you are fertile! For instance, Red Rasberry Leaf 'tones' and strengthens the uterus which is supposed to help the egg attach good.

Just tried to find out what they cover and what i need to do, adn the lady seemed rude and then said the total opposite of what member services told me. and asked what Re i was seeing and i said none and she said in a snotty tone that you need to pass some criteria and it'd bipass having to get a referral from the pcp and then had the never to say good luck with that.

If i even do decide to seek medical help i'll probably just go to the pcp to get a referral instead but i think i will still have to call into their stupid infertility program
The rude lady said that my plan only covers ultrasounds and bloodwork and no fertility cycles... so i'm assuing they wouldnt even cover clomid or even iui . I know they exclude IVF
Quote:
"Aetna Insurance Co. excludes IVF because IVF does not "directly correct an underlying infertility, but rather bypasses the problem to create a pregnancy," says Kathy Worthington, manager of the employee benefits division at Aetna Life "

Ha! Thats the craziest thing I've heard!

Yeah..so IVF may 'bypass the problem' in a medical sense but for us the problem is WANTING A BABY and so IVF - if it comes to that- is a solution not a bypass of the solution! grrr!
Although I know, at least here, they don't do IVF if you have one child already anyways (not on the NHS)

I'm afraid I don't know anything about U.S medical plans though so I can't comment on what you can do or what they should do. Sorry.

I'm kinda at a standstill myself as my docs said 'come back in 6mths' for a referal to a clinic but then say they won't refer until hub does a SA. And he is not rushing along to do so!

Yeah i thought that was just crazy when i found a article saying that quote.

I'm trying to think + for the next few cycles.

I think i might change my mind about seeking help when we hit the 3yr mark in July

Aww thats a shame. Keep looking into natural fertility boosters and cures, at least whilst you wait and decide. I know you prefer not to go down the charting/opks route but if your not gonna get the help then you might as well find out what you can about your cycle.
You can still use them to have your bloods done as it does say it covers that at least.

Sorry your not getting proper help that you clearly qualify for!

Try the red raspberry leaf as its suppose to 'condition' and strengthen the uterus in preparation for implantation.

It is , made me realized that when dh gets home tonight i'm gonna have him try and set up a appointment with our PCP so he can find out what needs to be done for him to get a SA done and rule him out as being the problem first. He works around some harmful stuff at work.

I cant wait to get In Vitro Fertilization: The A.R.T. Of Making Babies" and start reading it.

My book covers 'harmful' substances at work too. It recommends men take a high dosage of vitamin C to combat them and a high protein diet.

I am sorry for all of the losses and trouble TTC you are having.

My insurance didn't cover barely anything - just diagnostics, so I could have all the "testing" done I needed. I still had to pay a co-pay or percentage of some of the tests but most of it was covered. My clomid was never covered, but I shopped around and found that Target would give me my 5 pills for $9 and when I was upped to 100mg I paid $18.

It took us 2 years and 2 months/28 cycles to get the baby we are now pregnant with and it took us no time to get our son (we were NTNP him). Every test I had done through my OB came out normal other than my having PCOS. My next step was going to be the RE/fertility specialist but we had to wait till we had more money cause our insurance wouldn't cover much with the specialist. We were still about 6+ months away from that when I got my BFP.
