I know that you really CAN'T know...but is there anyway to gain insight on whether or not you are going to have fertility problems. (sorry if some of you already know my deal..I didn't want to post jus the question and assume that we all know everyone's story here...so I figured I'd just sum it up) My cycles have always been regular...28-30 days..usually ovulate right in the middle. Before I got married, I was on BCP..stopped for a month..began trying the following and got preg with my dd right away. After I had her, I got my period on the 3rd month....I got it every month from then on...I had a lil breakthrough bleeding...but nothing major. I started BCP again when she wwas 10 months old and stopped it in Jun. I've had two regular periods since then and have ovulated mid cycle. As most of you already know, last cycle dh and I were going to try to do an IUI in order to create a sample of sperm with more Y in it. Believe me, any baby is a blessing....this was a fluke thing on my dh's mind...and since i wanted another baby any which way I could have one...I went along. Soo glad..THAT IS OVER! Well..before the procedure he had me take an HCG shot to make sure that I ovulated in time. He also wanted me to take one 7 days later (even though we didn't go through with it)...in case I had a LPD (luteal phase deficit)...bc I spotted with my dd. I did this as well and we didn't get preg. Although he said that there were really no side affects of the shot...except false preg tests and symptoms..I had INCREDIBLE pressure and some pain in my uterus. I thought it was a UTI but it went away as soon as I got my period and UTI test came back neg. I'm just soo worried. Some people have said that if you don't have fertility probs but you take fertility drugs, this can hinder the process....it is possible that your endometirum could become too thick that the egg can't implant. (something that the hcg shot helps to do)
My mind is all over the place. One minute I feel positive and am thinking HAPPY FERTILE thoughts...and the next I feel like I will NEVER get preg and if I do it will be a mc. I finally called my OB (who I've been with for 10 years)...the other Dr I was seeing was a specialist who did the sperm sorting. She's having me take progesterone starting day 12 because with my dd, I had low prog. (just in the beg)..she said it wouldn't hurt.
I wish there was some way to know or have an idea of what my TTC journey will be like. I hate the unknown and I hate being out of control. I always heard that you most often, can have an idea if you are going to MC....because there are usually symptoms...bleeding, cramping, no heartbeat. I guess this is all a matter of just trusting fate. Is it me, or is this stressful?

TTC is incredibly stressful, especially when doctors become involved. There are some home tests you can do to give you a very general idea...

Fertility / Hormone Test by FemaleCheck

Male Infertility Tests by PreConceive Plus (FertilMarq): Sperm Count Fertility Testing

Anything done by a doctor would obviously be more accurate, but they're an alternative option. Charting can also give you a good idea of what's going on with your body. The more you can chart the better since you may find you don't have much fertile CM around ovulation or that you have an LPD.

How do I know if my CM is fertile? During the middle of the month ...I have periods of high CM...some is creamy white....egg whiteish and some is more sticky. Which is best?

Have you heard that mucinex helps? pr any other expectorant?

I think one thing that so many people don't realize when they start TTC is that it can take a perfectly healthy couple anywhere from 6 - 12 months to conceive. That is NORMAL! Everyone just assumes that if they aren't pregnant within the first couple of monts it means problems. They stress over it and stress can have an impact on your fertility.

As far as fertility medicines causing problems if you take them..... while that can happen, I really don't think you have to worry about that with HCG. Mainly just because unlike some fertility meds, HCG is something that your body normally produces during a pregnancy anyway. The pressure and whatnot that you described can be very normal during early pregnancy, so I really don't think you have anything to worry about. I know it's so much easier said than done, but the best thing to do really is to try to just relax and think positive! Good luck!

THANKS....trying to relax....in progress =0) I never had that pressure with my dd or even any of my other periods. I ended up getting my period in the end. The dr said that the hcg helps to thicken your lining...it must have done something because I was in pain...it was uncomfortable. I even had a sono a week and a half prior to getting my period and my dad, the sono tech, said my lining looked really thick, like i was just about to get m y period...and I wasn't....

I didn't see your question about CM earlier. Egg white mucus is the most fertile. If you see that you are definitely in a fertile period. Watery mucus is a sign of being fertile too.

The HCG does help thicken your lining. When your body senses the HCG it does what it normally does during a pregnancy. (thickening lining, more progesterone, etc.) If you were indeed pregnant your body would continue to produce HCG and the lining would stay thick throughout the pregnancy. When you aren't pregnant the HCG slowly leaves your system, your lining sheds and you start your cycle as usual.
