I finally got off my butt & started our (my & Austin's) little home business, selling our artwork.

Here's our website/blog... A&A Art

And our FB page... A&A Art | Facebook

I thought I'd mostly try local sales out & maybe progress to selling on Etsy in the future, IDK. Of course if anyone not local wanted to buy from me before I set up a Paypal acct or anything I'd be glad to set it up & sell even non-local!

I would love for you all to "like" me on FB but of course don't feel obligated!

Okay, shutting up now!

You are liked. Now if only I could get my husband to understand that bare walls are boring. I really like the Fall Landscape.

That's awesome Amanda. My husband and I were recently talking about buying some art in the near future, so when that time comes, I'll have to let you know. I really like the Ladies Night Out.

Thank you...

Anna, you know I have an idea in mind for another landscape pic... I hope to paint it in the next few weeks!

Steph... that would be soooooooooooooo cool! Plus if I tried this whole long distance mailing & stuff with you I'd feel better about the whole process. I'm a little nervous to be honest (since I've never done it before) but b/c I know you it would make me feel better! Plus if you have anything specific you have in mind, just tell me & I will give it a try. Plus I'll let you look at it & only if you like it, you can buy it.

Let me know when you do the next landscape, I don't want to miss it. I've got a wide taste in art, but a huge soft spot for landscapes.

Congrats! My MIL is an artist and regularly deals with mailing paintings for shows and stuff so if you have any questions, I could ask her. Our walls are covered with her work. She is actually going to do a large canvas with a train/landscape on it for AJ's room. That way we wouldn't have to paint over a mural if we move.

Oh that would be AWESOME, Christina! Thank you! Yeah, my house looks like an art gallery! Love the idea about a HUGE canvas... I kinda would LOVE to paint several classic pooh bears in our nursery but I also don't want to have to repaint later down the road so I highly doubt I will. I want to have a fairly neutral nursary & decorate it with rugs, paintings, curtains, bedding, that sort of thing. Do you know what kind of paint your MIL uses? Acrylic? Oil? Watercolor? I'm really just curious on that... I use acrylic. Never used oil but it is BEAUTIFUL IMO!

My main questions right now (if you don't mind):
  • What is the best advice about mailing paintings? I thought I'd probably end up (when someone wants to buy one who is not local) carrying it to the UPS store or some place like that & asking for help since I'm really not sure how to even go about it at all.
  • How much should you charge for shipping? Is there an easy way to determine shipping (on the different sizes) without actually carrying a painting to the UPS store & asking them?
  • This one isn't about mailing but I've always wondered this... when/if she were to paint a mural on a wall, what kind of paint would/do you use? Acrylic maybe? Or would you buy house paints in the various different colors & use them? Surely not, I would think since that would be expensive.

She used to do Oil only but has since started acrylic. She is actually going to base the HUGE canvas for AJ's room with wall paint though and paint acrylic on top. We will probably have her do something for Katie's room too but not till we really know what her interests are - our nursery is the same from AJ (Lazy Days Pooh is the bedding set).

I will ask her these questions next week - she is out of town for the holiday weekend.

This is my MIL's most recent based off this photo of AJ :
