Hello everyone I have a beautiful daughter that's 4 years old. I got off birth control when she was 3 months old, and wasn't really trying but not protecting either. Now me a DH is TTC #2 and it's getting hard to deal with no having any luck. It's making BD more like a chore than a loving act of nature. Then I see so many people getting preggo and not trying to. What am I doing wrong? I am only 26 and DH is 24 so we are still young and still having problems. I was in labor for 33 hours with my little girl and bled for 6 weeks very heavy so i am afraid i'm damaged and there's no hope, i sure hope not that would kill me. I have cut back on caffeine and started eating more fish, taking iron supplements(since i am anemic) and starting on prenatal vitamins. any help would be appreciated. Oh yeah and these codes ya'll use what are they? I got the TTC, BD, but what about the others?

I'm sorry you're having so much trouble. Are you charting at all? That in itself could give you a lot of information. You may not be ovulating, you could have a luteal phase defect, or several other possibilities. What are your cycles typically like? Very irregular or heavy? Abnormally painful? I'm 26 with PCOS and adenomyosis, both of which cause infertility. You can work around them if you know you have them though.

Bleeding heavily after having a baby isn't necessarily a bad thing. Some women stop bleeding very quickly and it never gets that heavy while others will have fairly heavy bleeding for months. Like many things with the female body you have to take it on a case by case by case basis.

Have you talked to your doctor about TTC? At this point since you haven't been preventing for roughly 4 years any decent doctor would begin tests sooner rather than later to get you some answers.

You can find a list of the most common abbreviations at the bottom of this post.

Hope this helps!

Hi and welcome! I'm Stephanie, the co-host on this board. I am actually not currently TTC because I am back in school now, but DH and I did TTC for 4 1/2 years before we stopped for me to go back to school. I know how frustrating this can be and how hard it is to deal with. I really hate to see anyone struggling with infertility.

It sounds like Anna has given you some good advice.I would definitely go see your doctor and at least talk to him about this a bit. Good luck with TTC. I hope you are sharing news of a BFP with us in no time.

So sorry you are having difficulty getting pregnant. I labored with my son (who is also 4 yrs old) for 4 days and hemorrhaged after he was born. I had the same concerns - that something happened and we wouldn't be able to have more.

Since we weren't trying for my son and I never went on any hormonal BC, I called my OB at 8 months of trying and asked for a consult. I found out that I have mild PCOS but I do ovulate most of the time. I charted to avoid pregnancy and was charting to achieve too. I have had just about every test they offer and we were going to go to a fertility specialist next but were waiting to pay off some stuff first. I ended up getting pregnant this past March on a cycle I was sure was going to be a dud anyways because I traveled away from DH around ovulation.

Most doctors say to wait a year before seeking help, but if you weren't careful for the last few years, I would ask my OB about it now. Good Luck!
