Who all is doing any kind of medical intervention to ttc? How long into the ttc process were you before trying meds/procedures?

Short Story :

I am on Femara and Prednisone due to a Luteal Phase Defect after TTC since July/ Aug 09.

Long Story :
I tried to get help after TTC for less than 6 months. I knew because of Charting that something was wrong ( plus at that time I was having heavy bleeding every 2 weeks ). My Dr told me that nothing was wrong and to come back after my son had been weaned for six months. I went back a year later and he didn't believe me so I switched Drs. My new Dr didn't really think that anything was wrong either but he said he would run a Day 21 Progesterone draw. My progesterone came back WAY Low so he started me on Femara. I got preggo my first cycle of it but lost the Little One at 6 Weeks. He now has me on Femara and Prednisone

for primary infert I did: 18mos ttc on our own, then got on clomid and got pg right away, had a loss, got pg again and had a term baby
secondary infert: went on Clomid when DS1 was 6 months old, when he was 28 mos old I went for our first round of ivf, failed and converted to iui
adopted three kids
this pg, happened nearly two years after failed ivf, ntnp, no ma at all, we had given up

Nothing yet...I am ready to at least have all the tests run but DH isn't. I get the impression the whole idea threatens his masculinity or something

Short Story: We are seriously considering doing Clomid+ IUI next cycle if this one is a bust.

Long Story: Started getting checked out after 6 months of TTC #2. I had 6months worth of charts showing perfect timing and just had feeling "something" was wrong. DH's SA came back spectacularly awful with only 3 million total sperm and 36% motility. We were told that IVF was our only option (which really ISN'T an option for us for several reasons), but then DH's urologist found a varicocele and recommended surgery. Started DH on a hardcore vitamin regimine and he had the surgery 9/10/10. His 3-month post-op SA in December 2010 was borderline normal (still low concentration but his high volume made up for it, and good motility). My doctor still recommended IUI but we gave it one last shot before proceeding with that and I got pregnant, but lost the baby a week after my BFP . Since then we have been waiting for my cycle to return to normal. His 6-month post-op SA was about the same as in December, so they are still recommending IUI. If I'm not pregnant this cycle we might proceed with IUI...we'll see.

My husband and I want testing done at this point, but my doctor has been unwilling to look into anything. He says this is normal for our ages (I'm 33 and he's 48 next week). I do not agree. At the ame time, he's been my ob/gyn for forever and delivered my two boys, so I hate to up and leave his practice. He has through my annual (July) to get the ball rolling on the "detective work" and then I'm going to move on to another practice.

I just want to know if I'm beating my head against a wall every month or not...

My husband said he wants answers but would not want us to undergo any type of fertility treatment like IUI or IVF. I would do that, but he won't.
