I want to go there so bad!!! How did you end up getting stationed there? What is your husband's MOS?

I hear amazing things about there. There is a wives group that meets up every week and has speakers and it sounds really fun. I've heard a lot of great things about the TN side of the base. However on the KY side it seems to be pretty ghetto. http://www.facebook.com/l.php?u=http...com%2F&h=d9b5b

I live here right now. We love it here. There is always something to do which is a big factor in whether I like a place or not. No matter which way you drive there is an abundance of things to do within 1-2 hours of the post. The community is very supportive of the troops and the families. We live on post and love our house. We are getting more for our BAH than we would living off post. We have a brand new house that is bigger than most of the housing off post.

Not sure where you are getting that info from as I live on the KY side and have a brand new house in a nice neighborhood. There is some "ghetto" housing on the TN and KY side though.

I am sorry if I came off snarky. I went back and read it and it did come off as being snarky and I apologize. I do agree that the KY part right off post does not have the nicest housing though. If you go towards Hopkinsville though some of the housing there is nice.

I loved living there and we want to go back (soo bad) but we left in 2004 and I am sure it has changed alot. We lived off post at first and then moved on post and LOVED it. We loved the school and just that post in general. We liked the TN side better than the KY (but then again that was a while ago so I don't know what has changed)

Good Luck! (I am so jealous)

As far as the better housing that really depends on rank. We are JNCOs and have better housing than Senior NCOs and Field grade officers. But they would get more for their money living off post in some of the newer neighborhoods that iare in thier price range.
The schools are better on post from what I am gathering from those that have done both on and off post here. This is one of the few posts that have the High school on post so that is a major selling point to a lot.
As far as shopping most of your mainstream stores are in Clarksville and most are no more than a 15 minute drive from post. The target is small and I was very disappointed in it. There are a lot of restraunts to choose from. There is a Jumpzone in Clarksville.
There is a water park in Hopkinsville. And 2 smaller amusment parks withing 1 1/2 hours drive.
We do MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) in Clarksville. There is also a group that meets on post. There is also a MOMS club in Clarksville that does stuff several times a week.
