My husband was born in Yokosuka, Japan while his father was in the Navy. The birth certificate shows a different birth time then my MIL remembers. Is it possible the hospital or military recorded the wrong time? How can I go about getting an original copy of birth records? MIL has original, but won't give them to my husband.

I wouldn't think you could get the birth records, because those are the medical records of your MIL, and would only be released to her. The birth certificate your husband could request, but I guess that wouldn't help. Is there a reason you need to know the time, or just curiosity?

I am just curious. I like astrology and my husband was born on June 22nd. Since he was born in Japan, if it was a morning birth then he would be a Gemini. If it was an evening birth, then he would be a Cancer. My MIL says morning and birth certificate says pm.

I think I would believe my MIL...she's the one who was there!

One of my kid's birth certificates says they weighed an ounce different than what they told me in the delivery room. I don't know if they rounded it different or what for the paperwork.

I would have to agree with going by mil's time.

My mom swears my birth certificate is off by a minute. She says she was there and she KNOWS i was born at 3:33pm not 3:32 lol.

Not as big of a difference as am or pm. so i would imagine your mil would remember am or pm if my mom can remember a minute.

This is totally random, but I have aunts that were idenitcal twins. When one passed away at about 50 years old, my grandmother realized their birth certificates were "wrong." All those years she had been calling twin#1 one name and twin#2 the other - the birth certificates were done in the opposite order though.
