We got my dad today at the Air National Guard base. His plane landed as soon as we got there which made him 30 minutes early. My eyes always water up when we go to get him from deployment. It was extremely bad today and I thought I was going to break down and cry. Instead, I held myself together and blamed the warehouse for burning my eyes.
Some guys got off the plane with flowers and my dad said that the new dads were given them. This one guy's wife had twin boys!
We dressed my niece up. My mom bought her this outfit:

but the pants were too big so she had to wear different ones. She also had on baby UG boots. I have always thought that UG boots were just ugly for no reason but shrink them to baby size and oh my goodness they're adorable! They were pink ones.
My dad said that they had to get off the plane in a certain order. The guy listed who all could get off first and then said "all new dads and the two grandads". His Master Chief had a grandchild born while he was on deployment.
My dad said that the young guys were making fun of him and asking him if he got his walker and wheelchair yet. They've been making fun of his age (he's only 39) since they had a mustache growing contest and my dad's came out mostly white.
My mom, sister, and I went to get McAlister's while my dad stayed home with Jazmyne. When we got back, we heard Jazmyne laughing and it was a laugh we have never heard before.
He's asleep right now and may not wake up again until around 0200-or so my mom's predicting. He left at 10 am his yesterday our today (he was in Okinawa). Had one layover in Alaska for 2 hours and came here. He spent a little over 12 hours total on two planes. Right now, his body is saying it's his Wednesday morning. He goes to work for a little bit tomorrow then gets to be at home for 96 hours to let his body get used to the time change. Then he starts leave (vacation) on the 19th until, I think, early January.
Don't know what he got me yet and I may not know until Christmas. I'll let you guys know as soon as I do. He may not have gotten anything really extravagent like he has done on his other deployments but that's only because Okinawa is really expensive. He asked me what I wanted from there one time and I said a Kimono and he said no because they're over $2000.
The last two deployments I had gotten a 24kt gold charm with my name on in English on one side and hieroglyphics on the other. That was from Bahrain. The one before that was turtle shell jewelry (ring, bracelet with my name carved in it, and hair clip) from Palau.
