Hello! My name is Laura and i'm 19 years old. My fiance and I Just found out that I am pregnant. (well in November, lol). I work full time at a pet store called Jacks Aquarium & Pets. I love it. I also Have horses, That I try not to ride..lol. I have only rode once in the past 2 months though, thats a first for me! It was for a short time too. My approximate due date is July 23, 2007. I go to the Doctor next week (on the 18th) to find out more. I can't wait! I dont know weather to be excited or depressed about being pregnant. I'm excited in one way, but I also can't picture myself being a mother. I love to ride horses and do alot of things you cant do while being pregnant or having a newborn. I have alot of problems with my lower back. I think its from riding my whole life. I also have a problem with my knee (another horse accident..lol), which makes it extra hard on me. Anyways, I heard that really hot showers, hot tubs and heating pads are bad for the baby, but its the only thing that will make my lower back feel better, Is it true about them? I dont take any OTC medication because im afraid of birth defects from them. I want to have a healthy pregnancy, and a healthy baby, but I would also like to make my back feel a bit better, any suggestions? Well, Im probably boring you, so I'm going to add one last thing...any suggestions at all about anything would be greatly appreciated, because Ive never been pregnant before..lol.. Thanks Laura
OoO horses. I'm only get to ride my cats.. and they don't get me far. As far as a hot bath.. I always took hot showers.. and my doctor said it was fine as long as YOU are fine. But that's with showers so I'm not sure. At least you'll be able to ask your doctor when you visit and he'll probably write a prescription of a drug for your lower back - something that is definitely safe for pregnancy.
As far as being depressed and happy. I was the same way. I felt guilty at times because when I was preg.. I used to think "i'm not ready, i can't be a mom, i don't want this, i want to do what all my friends are doing" and then I'd be happy the next minute because it's so cute having a baby! well.. I always regret that I ever felt, even for a little while, that I didn't want this pregnancy because Remy (my son) is the best thing that has ever happened. You won't feel like a mom until some days AFTER you're baby is born. It's natural because you're still young! Dont necessarily think that your old life is over.. you can still ride and yes, it'll take some time. You might not want to ride anymore anyways because once your baby is born -- you'll be SO infatuated with them that nothing else is better. But you will learn to make time to do things that you want to do.
Anyways.. I'm Alisa and I'm 19 (20 on the 26th of this month) and my hubby's name is Kevin and he's 21. Our son, Remy, is 19 months old and his pic is below.
Remy is ADORABLE!!!!! Thanks for the advice! I appreciate it alot. Yeah, Im excited more than regretable. My Fiance is excited about it. My mother is WAY excited..lol.. She actually went to the mall tonight to buy me a crib and changing table with a matching dresser! My fiance and I were going to buy it, but my mother and step father insisted on it. We bought and AWESOME stroller and car seat! Its so cute. Im doing the babies room in pooh bear, The swing and bouncer were getting is pooh bear, its sooooo cute! Im going to ask the doctor about my back. It could be a combination of standing up all day too at work and the fact of getting bounced off trees, pavement, rocks and other horses, well, and any other hard surface you can think of..lol..all my life... fun stuff huh? Im glad I found this place, because I dont know many people that are pregnant right now, actually I dont know many people at all, I just moved to Cincinnati! lol. I like my new job, but Im afraid im over doing it. When I get off work im VERY exhausted. I dont want to quit, (even though I could if I wanted to) Maybe I should just have my hours cut down a bit. My boss is very nice about things like that. Or do you think I sould stick it out with 8+ hours, and maybe I'll get used to it? My old job I had before here was way harder, (I worked at a riding stable, took care of 55 horses a day and saddled about 20-30 a day, plus rode for 5-12+ hours) I dont understand why this job is making me so tired and sore. I dont know. Being pregnant is confusing..lol..
My crib set is pooh that's nice that they bought you all that stuff. I'm actually looking into getting a new stroller.. i hate my stroller lol. I don't have any friends with kids over her so I'm always on this site lol. Being preg is confusing but there's a book called "what to expect when you're expecting" and it's great!! you'll get used to it. Don't be afraid to ask q's because all the girls here have been there.. or they are going through it right now. As for your back.. if it hurts a lot now.. it's only going to get worse so you should think of a plan. My back hurted a lot in third trimester because of all the weight. I'm a little itty bitty person and gaining 15 lbs in just one area was hard impact on my body.. especially my back. And most likely, you'll gain more than that..
Welcome to the board, my name's Becki and I have an almost 1 year old girl, Mikayla. I LOVE horses, I rode for 4 years and just got into it again but got preggo and had to stop.. hopefully I'll get into again soon, I miss it sooo much.
I think it'd be better if you cut back your hours some if its really bothering you that much. I worked full time, 8 hour shifts up until I was 2 weeks from my due date but I didn't have a very hard job lol Whatever you feel comfortable with! Hope to see you around

I'm Dee, 18, with a little boy on the way on 24 Feb.
Hot baths are not a good thing because it can cause Spina Bifida in the baby. I don't know about hot showers. I'd try to alternate between hot and cold while in one shower. I don't take hot showers because ever since I got pregnant, I can't breathe in them. Heating pads are usually ok.
The only pain reliever you can take without harm to the baby is Aceteminophine (Tylenol). Just as long as you don't overdo it or take more than it says on the bottle. Try to only take it when you're in immense pain, also.
I have lower back problems too (usually when I sit for too long) because of my Spina Bifida in that region. I also have Tendonitis is both of my knees and it's been acting up in my right knee lately, so I know where you're coming from.

I sit on my mom's dog's back (she weighs more than the other one), but I don't put all my weight on her and tell her "giddy up pigony!" Sometimes she'll walk a bit and sometimes she'll sit and I slide off.

yeah.. I try but usually my cats just crouch down and gimme the "i'm so annoyed with you.. aren't you supposed to be a grown woman?" look and wait till I get off. Sometimes I hold onto their ears and say "giddy up! go kitty go!" lol.. but I stopped doing that because Remy started imitating me and he tugs their ears a lot harder so I feel bad lol. I'm such a cat smother-er LOL
Im kaylie, 16 married to my husband casey almost a year. We're expecting a little girl, mahayla in mach.
You can get in a hot tub during pregnancy it just has to be less than 10 min, the concern is your temperature rising above 102, so if you do make any visits make sure its less than 10 min....tylenol is ok to take while youre pregnant, you can talk with your DR and let him know about your back problems, he might be able to prescribe you something a little stronger that wont hurt the baby...hope you stick around!!!
