Have you/will you ever put your child in daycare??

- - - - - - - - -

I put Owen in daycare when he was around 18 months for a couple of months. I was very picky about who he went too tho and it took me over a month to even find someone I could trust. I finally found a wonderful daycare. It was $950 a month, but I wouldn't have it any other way. The toddler class limit was 5 and there were 3 teachers, so I knew he was getting the care he needed. I later pulled him out because that was the time he kept getting very sick and having asthma attacks, although we didnt know he had asthma yet, and we had to go through a lot of hospital/doc visits until he found out what was going on, and I decided I wanted to stay home with him.

Yup he's been in two! I'm picky with daycares too! They were both great! The teachers were so nice and perfect, they had about 10 kids in the first one and in the second there was about 6! He LOVED daycare! I pulled him out of the first one because we were moving and the second because, I moved back He's not in it anymore, because, well... I'm not working

We do preschool, and Dani was orginally in day care. As much as I would love to be a SAHM, we need me to go to get my RN. Otherwise, in MD, we wont be able to afford a nice house with a big backyard for Danielle. So Dani has to be in daycare so I can go to class.

We were spending about $220 a week for 3 days at this one place...WHICH I LOVED! Dani learned to walk because of that daycare lol Seeing all of the big kids walking gave her incentive to do the same. But now she goes to a jewish preschool, and the ILs pay for half of her tuition so it is worth it. Plus, her teacher when she was 2 has known Adam for almost 10 years or so. I trust her! And Dani's teacher now is absolutely wonderful.

I feel lucky, I have had nothnig but wonderful experiences with day cares. I know with the next little one, I do plan on staying home longer, but once the baby turns 2, I know I will be sending the little one to the same preschool.

I don’t plan on doing daycare because it’s money we can really save.
And my mother did agree to watch the baby if she can’t watch it then
I have other family members who are willing too watch the baby and
I agreed to give them money probably 400/month because they are
taking time to watch my baby and I appreciate it.

Although when the baby becomes older around three, that’s when some preschools
starts here I will have him go to school early that way he haves something to do and get an early education it from 9am-3pm and I think its like daycare but its preschool. ((100% free))
I know this because I use to work there with the children and I adore them.
So I wouldn’t mind him going to that.

Preschool isn't free in Maryland. Only kindergarten. Sucks, huh.

Preschool isn't free in UT either. But I wouldn't expect it to be. Preschools are usually a private thing, unlike PreK, is with the school system.

I'll have to put Natalie in daycare a little. I'll need to go back to work and hopefully enroll in some part time college classes. I'm not sure if she'll be in half day or full day... and here it's pretty expensive. So i'm not sure how i'm going to be able to afford it but I think some of my family is willing to help out until I get a steady paycheck coming in. I've already found a daycare that I feel completely comfortable with and trust everyone there...

Nope no way in hell. I do not care if you do it for free and pay me LOL, I have hear far to many horror stories I am even afraid to send him to school because of all the school shootings and such. I am really rethinking Pre-k, at first I did not want to do it because I thought he has to go threw kindergarten-12th so why add another year is that fair when it is not a must but now im thinking I may do it because I feel bad that my mom has him all the time when I was working and soon I will be working and hopefully starting college in January so my mom will have him even more so I was thinking September 2008 sending him so that way my mom does not always have him and it is free not to mention I always feel bad because he seems so lonely because he has no kids his age to play with and besides pre-k is pretty much the same thing as daycare but free and shorter but it will defiantly be a private school , no way in heck will I send Andrew to a public school anywhere in the US.

I never planned on using daycare. Especially after I heard about baby Kaleb getting SBS in daycare ... nope! There are so many kids in my area I really could never find a good daycare without a ton of kids in there. Plus I have no need to do it. I'm a SAHM and plan on being one for a while if everything ends up working out. I plan on working with Rileigh myself. My mom did it with me and I was really advanced.

OMG I know, that poor little boy . After that Owen won't goto daycare either. Even FAMILY members could do that to your child.

Only my mom (and the daycare he was in for 2 months) have watched Owen. I don't trust anyone . . not even Ted's mom!

I am thinking about daycare and doing research but after all the recent horror stories, Im really sketchy! Sometimes though, you do what you have to do and in this situation I dont have a choice. I have to finish school and I want to work so I can pay for it and we dont have family that will watch her unfortunately. It breaks my heart to know that she'll be somewhere without me but Im gonna just pray daily that she is safe and taken care of!

It’s a program called “Head Start” for children that is 3 years olds. The program is free but the only problem is too many people apply for it and they only take a certain amount of kids… I use to work there and helped them with the children. It’s a good environment, but its only on a first come first serve… maybe I’ll have luck. That would suck if parents had to pay but I don’t remember the parents ever having to pay then, its been 2 years so things might have changed.

If it did, then I guess my family won’t mind watching him for an extra year. My grandmother is retired so is my grandfather and I’m willing to pay them for watching them. Even though they probably wont take my money. Things have changed a lot when I went to preschool it was free, but some places changed now days. Lucky I have family who can help me with the baby. And daycare is out of the picture for me...because people around here ask for too much money. Hmmp! this lady wants to watch my child for $200.00 aweek... No thanks

Rashad is in daycare.. going on three weeks now...
He's at the daycare where my mom works.. so I guess u can kinda say I'm picky too..lol
Its about 200 for the summer.. but 380 the rest of the year..its a really good daycare and its one of those with the cams in them and u can go check on you child anytime of the day if ur near a computer.. so even if my mom wasnt there.. which she wont be year round..I would still like it...

I just hope when we move I find something just as good

I will have no choice but to put my child in daycare when he/she is 6 weeks old, because I only get 45 days of maternity leave after the baby arrives, unless I decide to take more of my personal leave.
