I just got a second job today! I am a veterinary assistant here in Collierville! I was so happy! I start either tomorrow or next friday. I have to call in the morning. I will just be assisting the vets in surgies and things like that, the only downfall would be uthnizations (sp), when they put the animals down.

Other then that things are going well. Paul is just as bad as always and Jerry is trying to crawl! I have videos but my internet is down and I am at the library. But he is getting so big!

I am starting to apply for colleges now that I am almost done with my classes! I cannot believe I actually did it! Went back to school, I am so proud of myself.

Robert was let out of Lakeside but is resting comfortably. He is at home with me but I am in no way, shape, or form about to relapse. I am doing so good right now and I know things can only get better! I am so happy and content just being alone and taking care of the boys! How can things get better?

I feel so blessed. I went back to church Sunday and every word was meant for me and I know that!

yes and no you have to go to school for that. I was a receptiones/assistant at a vet office it was small one vet practice. And at her office the assistant helped in the room by holding the animal when needed for shots and exams. They also walk the animals when they stay over night get cages ready help take and develope x-rays depending on how many assistants are there sometimes you can help in surgery that is fun

Yes you have school for that but thats if you want to help in surgery with the vet alone and that kinda stuff.

But, I hope that it works out for you, its good you got the job w/o having to get any kind of schooling done! I'm glad things are going well for you too, its good you're happy!

That's what I thought. You can care for the animals without having to goto school, but to help in surgery, euthanizations, and that sort of thing I believe it takes about 2 years of school and they are more of a vet. tech. I looked into going to school for it and actually signed up but the school was 2 hours away. My brother's girlfriend is a vet asst. at her dad's office, and although she is 16, she had to take a state test to be able to help with more.

Man, it seems like every post I make comes back to bite me in the butt.

I am a vet assistant. I only assist the vet in everything. They actually call is a Ward Attendant but they call it a vet asst. so it doesn't sound so demeaning. I have to clean out the cages, walk, give meds, and things like that. I am not doing the surgery or stitching someone up. Just there to help.

I am doing exactly what Maren said.

We were just wondering. We're allowed to ask questions that we are curious about.

Hope you like it.

I didn't mean it like that. lol. I know that you guys are allowed to ask all the questions in the world. I just meant that every post I make I never explain anything correctly or if I do, its still not enough. lol.Thats it. I meant nothing by it. I completely agree, if you don't understand, ask, if you dont you will never know! I live by that!

I don't want to argue or make this post into something like that. I have enough going on at home and don't want anything to go on here too. This is my place of relaxation and would just like to keep it that way.

Also: By helping, I meant restraining. I do have to restrain them and it probably wont be for a while. I start next friday. The good thing I get to wear the cutest SCRUBS! lol

well i helped with euthanizations this is going to sound bad but in a technical way of speaking they are easy i helped by holding the animals while doc gave the euth. shot(at least thats how she did euthanizations)

I'm just saying here at my brother's gf's dad's office they can't eauthanize or anything unless they have a license as a vet. tech. So maybe some places dont care. IDK. And when I asked him if I could get a job, he told me that I could work as a receptionist and that was about it unless I took a course.

I think you will like it!! its fun sad demanding and everything else all at the same time. One thing thats for sure is every day is pretty much different!!

Oh and like you said the scrubs are comfy/cute lol

i think alot of us were confusing vet assistant with vet tech. which are two similar but different jobs lol
