i honestly dont know how much a newborn eats i breastfeed and there is no way to measure how much baby actually gets from the boob. As far as pumping goes are you breastfeeding and pumping or just pumping? Generally you can pump as often as she eats. How much you pump varys alot you just got your milk in so you *probably* wont get much it also depends on how good of a pump you have. At first i got like maybe an ounce out of each boob. it wasnt untill Zoe was a bit older that i got the hang of pumping.

if all your doing is pumping then i would pump every 1-3 hours and pump untill you dont get anything from each boob.

forgot to add the more you pump/feed the more your body will produce

About an ounce til about 7 days and then it should increase to about 1 and half. But a baby will really tell you. They will nibble on their hands when they are hungry and usually take long breaths in between sucking.

Wow.. Alyssa's been eating about 2 and a half ounces every 3 or 3 and a half hours, is she getting too much?.. And I pumped this morning and got 5 ounces in about 30 minutes, it seemed like an awful lot to me, that's why I asked lol

I was breastfeeding and pumping but it seemed like she'd breastfeed for an hour sometimes and still get hungry, so I decided to just pump, that way I can make sure she's getting enough.

i had to pump the whole time for JJ and they told me to pump every 3 hours for 15 minues( with a double one, so if you have a single it would be 15 a side)... he drank about 2 ounces at 4 weeks old ( which was when he finally got to start eating.. he was concidered a new born at 4 weeks) i don't think she can get to much.. if she over ate a little bit she would just spit it up.

About ... 1-2 ounces, like Maren said... They only eat when they're hungry

I breastfeed her for the first month, so I don't really know how much she ate... but I know she ate a lot so that's why I introduced formula too

Brandon, my nephew, was drinking around 3-4 ounces by the time he was 2 weeks, I believe... somewhere around there, anyway!

I think from what you said that its completely normal! I gave up on pumping after only a few tries cause I didn't get much from it, and wasn't very patient lol

Maliyah takes 4 oz (she's a little piggy) I hardly ever nurse her because of it.. She never seems satisfied from the breast, so I pump.. Jaiven nurses at every feeding, and I give him a bottle of expressed milk or formula before bed.. and in that he takes 3-3.5 oz. How often are you pumping? It sounds like you've got a great supply! Right now I pump after each nursing session and get 3.5-4 oz.. I'm using a double electic pump, so I freeze one bottle (for when I go back to work) and refrigerate the other.. for Maliyah to have during the days.
