after looking at all the wonderfull stuff you can do with photoshop, i was wondering what program do you buy to get started??

Photoshop Elements are usually the cheapest to buy. Its what I use. CS3 costs a pretty penny.
GIMP is a free program you can download.
Also, you can get a trial for Paint Shop Pro on Corels website, or Photoshop trials on Adobe's website (but they are not available at the moment.)

so you can buy photoshop elements and they will work for the projects i see everyone working on, i am so new to all this sorry for all the questions, which ones are the best to get?

Yep. Photoshop Elements is what I use. It runs about 90-100 dollars for the new version that just came out.

You can also go to your local Best Buy and get one.

I would suggest you start looking through siggy school. Look through there and the PSE lessons and tutorials. It will help you see the program, and get familiar with it and let you see if this is something you really want to do!

thankyou i thought that was the one but wanted to be sure before i spent the money, ive looked around on the tutorial, i like to just mess around with stuff, not real good at anything!!lol. thanks for your help

i keep trying gimp BUT the version i have doesn't have the stuff the tutorials have i have a newer one.... i can't really afford anything right now any other suggestions/?
