I'm VERY new to photoshop and was trying to do the image blending tutorial posted in here, but I can't pull up two layers. it says my layers are locked and I cannot for the life of me figure out how to unlock them (my BIL did it I'm guessing, he is a photoshop expert, but he wont help me undo it)

can anyone help me?

Do you have the layer named as "Background"? Is so CS3 automatically locks it and won't let you move it. Try double clicking on the layer, renaming it as anything you like (i.e. Layer 0) and then moving it.

If there is a lock on the layer, then click the lock button ABOVE the layers to unlock.

Another thing is go to Image<Mode and make sure RGB color is selected.

Oh you want to put them both in the same document? Open both documents, then click the box that has the two long boxes (shown below) to be able to see both documents side by side. Then drag one over to the other. You may need to resize first.
