Just started siggy school for PhotoShop and I have already hit a major bump in the road! I am on Lesson 1 and I am trying to add the drop shadow and stroke to the bear picture. Well I have the bear selected in my layrs pallette and when I go to the top menu's bar to select "Layers>Layer Style>Stroke" when I click on Layers it pulls down my menu options but nothing is highlighted in black print for me to select anything! All of them are grey text so I can't select any of them! Every menu is like that too except for the "View" menu! Anyone have any idea what might be causing this??? Let me know if you have a clue cause I am stumped! Maybe I should just stick with Paint Shop Pro....this one is already ticking me off and it's only been 5 minutes!!! Any help would be much appreciated!!!

Thanks Meighan

Ok, look at the tools on the left side. Make sure it is on the black arrow.

If you need a screen shot let me know.

if you didn't figure it out yet I can take a look back, cause I'm sure I posted about it.. (i'll look now)

and Honeslty thats how I felt when I started using PS, but its gotten easier... there are still some things that I just can't figure out.. but I work around those! lol..

It does get easier though I promise!!!!!!

ckick on the Move arrow, and it will ask you to apply change or soemthing like that, and say yes, and then everything SHOULD be enabled.. I think?

Yes if you are on a different tool besides the move tool, the arrow at the top you won't be able to do anything.

Here is a screen shot

I have the same problem sometimes if I leave it on the text tool or something.
