Alright, several makers have posted siggie layouts for makers to use. Some of you new makers have said you like them, but, don't know how to use them, so I'm making you a lesson to show you how.

We are going to use this layout:
http://www.4shared.com/file/40397299/68797...eartSiggie.html

and this kit:
Teresa's Song and Dance Digital Scrapbooking Freebie
(for this you only need the papers, but I recommend getting the whole kit because its awesome)

After you download the papers you will need to unzip them. If you have Windows XP or lower you will need to use WinZip, if you have Windows Vista just open the zipped file and click extract all contents.

Open the layout in pse, it’ll look like this:

And then if you close your artwork and effects tool area (by clicking the arrow) your layers should look like this:

You’ll see that all of the parts of the layout are in separate layers so that you can work with each layer individually.

Next open 4 of the papers that you wish to work with.

Take the paper that you plan to use on the heart and drag it into the screen with the layout. Once you have it should look like this:

Once you have you need to drag that layer (not the actual paper, but the image of it in your layers area) down to where it is above the large heart that is in the back ground. It’ll look like this:

Now with the paper layer highlighted in your layer area push the following buttons at the same time “ctrl” and “g”. And your layout should now look like this:

Highlight the paper and heart layer in your layer area (do this y holding down shift and clicking on both layers), right click, and then select merge layers.

Keep repeating these steps with each of the different layers of layout and papers that you use for them until you have all the layers filled. Note: you may have to resize some of the papers if you wish to get the details all in each layer. (Do NOT fill white layers yet!)

Yours should look something like this (except with what papers you picked):

Next open the 4 pictures that you wish to put into the frames. As you fill the frames you will more than likely have to resize the pictures to get them to fill the frames the way you want them to. Before you resize make sure that you have the picture layer under the frame layer but above the white layer. Like this:

And then press “ctrl” and “g” and then merge the picture and the white layer. Repeat this for the next 3 frames. Note: you may to rotate the picture some to get it to fit the frame the way you want it to.

Your layout should now look something like this:

For the last step just drop shadows, add other elements you might wish to use, or add text.

My final:

Post here and show me how you did!

Here is what I came up with. I'd love some CC on it! I also did a second version without the quote.

Awesome tutorial, Trish! This is basically how it works in PS, so I'm going to link to this in the Photoshop tutorial section.

Looks great Heather! I would add a bit of a shadow on your layers. It makes it look more like a scrapbook that way. Nice job!

Honestly I don't have a clue. You would have to put in a request for it in that siggy school i think.

you have to hit a differnt set of keys for your program i believe. if you pm Rachel, rawisner, she should be able to tell you the key set to use.

This lesson is for PSE. In PS, it's ALT+CTRL+G (or just Layer>Create Clipping Mask).
