So, I started using Gimp and I was trying to merge an embellishment onto my picture and it gave me an error message. Gimp would not let me look at all the files in the zipped folder to choose which thing I wanted. Is there something I have to do to the zipped folder, before I can use it in Gimp. As I can look at all the things in the zipped folder when not in Gimp.

Thanks Bunches

You need to unzip the folder before you can use the elements.

If you click on the folder, then click on extract all files

Okay, so I made this siggie below and I have lots of white space ....

Is this because I increased my canvas size?

You need to crop the excess white. Use the crop tool (looks like a scalpel) and drag it over your siggy. Make sure your whole siggy is in the box and then click the centre.

Also, I have found this really great site for downloading lots of freebies, but some of the files from the kit come bulked together. If I just want to use 1 thing out of it, do I have to insert the whole thing then, delete the rest of it out?

Thanks.

I just said I wasn't going to bother you again! LOL

Not quite sure what you mean. But if you mean that certain elements aren't in a separate png file and are in a cluster with other elements in a single png file, then yes you'll have to put the cluster in your siggy and erase what you don't want.

Sorry, I didn't explain that to well, but that is indeed what I was asking. Thanks a lot.

You are so helpful! (:

I made my first siggie, so I am quite in awe right now, that I actually figured it out!

Another question - How do I make rounded corners and apply various effects on a pic? Can you do this in Gimp?
