OK, I've got it figured out, I'm just not creative enough for this stuff. Thanks anyway. At least I know how to start it now.

Im sure that you are creative enough Honestly, I think that anyone has creativity in them

Is there anyway to get the dotted selection looking stuff off of the area of anything I do in Gimp? Its kind of annoying to me, lol.

I don't think so. I just click on the background layer to see if the layer looks right and then if I want to change anything click back on the layer I want to change. I do this a lot if I am erasing.

Yes, there is. I will try to get screen shots for it in a bit, but the short version is go to the main Gimp tool bar and go to File > Dialog > Create New Dock > Brushes, Patterns, & Gradients. Then from there you have to click on the little grey arrow for Brushes Menu > New Brush. Then you can choose the circle, diamond or square and play around with the hardness, radius, spacing angle etc.

Lol, I would pester him for PS! Gimp is a decent program, but PS is definitely better. If you start out with Gimp though, it will be a fairly easy transition to PS.

Just had to share what I made using Gimp! I've been using Jasc Paint Shop Pro, which is so much easier for siggie making, and Animation Shop for gifs. But Animation Shop would distort my gifs every time I saved them, so I tried out Gimp. I have to say, it's a fairly complicated but really powerful program. I believe there isn't much you can't do with it! Which is pretty awesome for a free program. Thanks for the tutorials Teresa!

Sorry I haven't checked back with this thread in a while. I would first start with the links on outlined and beveled text and then go on to the complete lesson number 1. That's a good place to start.

Click on the T in the side bar that is the text tool. Then click in the main screen and a box will pop up for you to type in. Let me know if you still are stuck on this.
