I know this was super long ago but I am just getting to know GIMP and this lesson was FANTASTIC Teresa! You did such and excellent job, thanks

Here is my first ever attempt @ a siggy!!

Oops just realized I did not erase as well as I should have but now I know for next time [/b]
I think it looks great! My only tip would be to crop out all the white space so your image file isn't so big.

Here is another...text looks choppy though.

Your text doesn't look choppy when it's blown up to full size. It just looks that way because it's shrunk down. Your Joey is adorable and great siggy!

Thanks so much! I was wondering what to do with all that extra space!

It looks great! You did a really nice job on it. You might want to crop out the extra white space from it, but other than that it is perfect! Hope to see you making siggies on the board!

Here's my attempt! At first, I didn't make the 2nd layer bigger than the picture and had to go back and do it all over again. And now, I'm not able to erase the border under Leo's name. So, I just finished the siggy off instead of stressing! Because, believe me, I WAS!!

I think for my first siggy, it came out great!

It looks great! You did an awesome job with it. The only thing I would change is cropping the white background out of the photo so it's not so big.

After I posted it, I went back and cropped it

I thought I would give the technique a try, but my Gimp program (2.4.2) doesn't have the "Script Fu" thing (though I can find the "add border" option) And then I can't find the inner border option... so where should I be looking for it? I actually didn't use the picture of Leo, but of my nephew, simply because I was curious as to how it would look... here's how far I got:

It's not that great, but anyway... I liked the idea, and just didn't feel like using the same picture (sorry, I'm a rebel, lol!). So... how on the new Gimp do I put that border around the letters, since I can't figure out how to do it?

Here's my attempt

I'm not sure I'm satisfied with the text color, it doesn't seem terribly visible, but I didn't know where else to go with it. Any suggestion?

I think that looks great! You might want to resize it if you used it for a siggy but it is really pretty.

Here's my attempt!! I figured it out.. the text looks fine, but then when JM resizes it it gets all grainy? I'm not sure how to fix it...

You just need to crop the siggy so all the white part isn't there. Then it won't be resized and it won't be so big.

Lol, it's okay. You'll get it figured out if you keep practicing.

Looks great! I would suggest cropping you siggy so that all the white background isn't showing, but other than that, you did a really good job with it.
