Step 2

You will need to download and add the following brushes for this lesson.

http://www.clickitgirl.net/lushb/#swirl

and http://www.kissmypixels.com/brushes_ps7_5.html (You want the one that says Doodles3 for PSP download the .jbr file.

Open up a new file size 600 by 400 pixels. I almost always make mine this size and then crop it down when I am done.

First we need to import the brushes. Go to File > Import > Custom Brushes

Find your file and open it.

Click add all to add all the brushes.

Repeat to add the second set of brushes.

On your background layer we will add our first brush. We will use one of the swirly brushes we downloaded.

Select the paintbrush tool and use the dropdown menu to choose one of the swirly brushes.

A window will pop up asking to demote image to 8bit channel. Click ok.

Make sure you have your color selected in the material palette before adding your brush stroke

.

Then just put your brush on the first layer of your siggy where ever you would like it. Try to put it in the top left so it looks like mine. You can use whatever color you want.

Your siggy should now look like this.

Next we will add the line across. We will use a brush for this and adjust the size. We will need to add a new layer before doing this so that the line will be on it's own layer. This is IMPORTANT. Do not skip this step or you will have to repeat this part of the lesson. To add a new layer go to the top. Click layer > New Raster Layer.

Then choose the brush that says Horizontal Line. It should be one of the default brushes that comes with psp.

Next we will adjust the size of the brush so it will make a nice long line. Adjust it to size 500 and width 5

Then put your line brush stroke on the new layer you just created. Place it underneath the swirly. Your siggy should look like this now.

Now, we are going to go add Megan back into the siggy. Open up Megan's cutout from step1. Before we paste it into the siggy we are going to resize the image smaller. To resize the image go to the top and select Image > Resize. A window will pop up. We are going to resize the height to 200 and the width will change proportionately. (Your width will be different than mine unless you got lucky.)

Now, copy and paste Megan into a new layer on the top of your brush strokes you have made. If Megan is not the top layer go to the top and select Layer > Bring to top.

Your siggy should now look like this.

Then we need to add our heart brush strokes. Make a new layer for this as well. Go to Layer > New layer like you did before. Add a couple hearts to that layer.

You only have one more thing to do and that is adjust the opacity on the swirly brush stroke. Select the swirly brush stroke in the layer palette. Adjust the opacity to about 50%. This will fade the back layer.

Your siggy should now look like this.

I want you to save this file as a PSP file and a jpg file. Post your image in the thread for step 2 and wait until a siggy teacher looks at it. If you get the ok, you can move on to step 3.

I realize this looks a little different than the siggy in step 1, but I did this in two parts and didn't have the time to make all the screen shots when I did step 1.

yes

I think it might be my operating system we have windows xp 64 bit, and we have found that alot of things aren't compatable with it, such as: our printer, norton antivirus, and numerous other things.

Maybe you didn't download the right original file. It shouldn't make it bigger.

Your getting there. Megan's hair was a difficult cutout. I bet you'll be a pro in no time!

Looks good! I would but the solid line above the brush, though. Otherwise, it's great!
