I have a quick Q, I asked in the UK Mummies forum earlier today but thought I'd ask here too:

Ok girlies, the past few days I've been having severe pain on my left-hand side, not constant but at various times throughout the day... it's to the side of and just under my bump. It happens on the right as well, not as frequent and not as painful. Mostly my left. I thought it was wind or that I needed to empty my bowel !

However, today's baby-gaga email update for 17 weeks says:

Quote:
This week, or in the coming weeks, you may be privy to the uncommon joys of “round ligament pain.” These not-so-lovely symptoms can include bellyaches, pain in the lower abdomen and sharp shooting and/or stabbing pains, most often expressed at the end of the day. Your suffering is due to stretched ligaments and muscles that support your ever-growing uterus. This is to be expected and is perfectly normal.[/b]

So now, I'm wondering... is it ligament pain or do I have a poopydoop/wind issue? What sayeth you girlies?

Yaya I'm both a BTDT and a preggers!

But yep it sounds like Round ligament pain to me, I had it pretty bad with Seamus during the same time frame as you. Its supposedly more painful with the first sense your body has to stretch more down there.

Sounds like round ligament pain to me! It was worse with Liam than Lochy but Lochy made up for it by giving me horrible sciatica that still hasn't gone away.

Yup, sounds like round ligament pain. I remember getting it every single time I got out of my car, that sharp pain under my belly bump. It started for me around 23 weeks.

It's on the front... belly area, it under my bump. I'm sure it is something to do with all the stretching that's going on. I feel it worst when I first stand up, or start walking, then it eases up. But I thought I'd ask you ladies, just to see what you thought.

I hadn't realised all this stretching would hurt as much, not that it's unbearable by any means! But it's the parts of pregnancy you don't hear about and when you experience it, it can be a little scary.

I think it's the round ligament pain but if you're really concerned the you could check with your midwife. I've had the stretchy, achy feeling under my bump too and on my left side. My was not extremely painful but noticeable and it wasn't constant but yet i could have it a whole day (does this make sense? hope you understand what I mean).

Just yesterday I had a sharp pain on the left side of my belly and it turned my belly like hard... I'm assuming just round ligament pain. It came and went fairly quick. I think that might be the same as you are feeling.

If you have ANY questions never feel bad calling your mid wife though. I think that's all it is though. Just growing and stretching

This makes me think stretching instead of gas/bowel issues.

I hate this type of stuff!! When people talk about the unpleasing parts of pregnancy its always about m/s or constipation! Something odd happened to me the other day, and thank god my sister pre-warned me about it or I would have freaked lol!!! Seriously, how do non-JMers survive pregnancy!!!
