I get them all the time!! Atleast 2 times a month, although I have had 2 in the last week!! It starts out with a mild headache, the very blurred vision, then an extreme headache. I am miserable for the rest of the day!! I used to think it was caffeine that did it to me, and still think it does but I also think it might be something else. Anyone else get them?? Anyone else know what causes them?? Any cures?? Help me, I hate getting them at work, it make sit so hard to do anything!!

Mine are SPECIFICALLY related to my cycle. Almost Completely, I think. The also I get them is when I haven't eaten, slept well, exposed to strong smells, or am under extreme stress. But they are DEFINITELY trackable to my cycle.

ETA: Relpax is a wonderful help. So is an eye exam and neck stretches. And laying in a dark room. Find your triggers.

My grandma gets them, she must have had some kind of testing done because I know her triggers are any caffeine (including any chocolate) and any sort of preservatives in food.

I hope you find a way to get rid of them soon.

I think that Caffeine triggers mine as well, but there is also something else. I guess I should really keep track of what I eat when they happen, I heard sugars can also do it...anyone heard of that???

There is a million triggers to them. What you need to do is figure out what your is......get a note book and start tracking what you eat each day, activities, stress/emotions, weather, cycle........and put how you feel that day. After a couple months you should have an accurate list!
I hear sugar, caffeine, hormones and gluten are BIG triggers!

Mine have been diagnosed as Muscle Tension. STRESS!

The ONLY thing that helps me is all the lights off, hiding in my bed. Low doses of caffiene actually HELP mine. I'm sorry you;re getting these rotten migranes

Yeah, that! I forgot about that! My neurologist gave me this little diary thing to keep track of a lot of the things Angela mentioned as well as my responses to non-medical/medical treatment. It was my gyno that helped me realize how related my migraines were to my cycle. After keeping track a while, it was easy to see which headaches were migraines and which were tension. Caffiene definitely helps the tension headaches!

I hope you feel better soon!

ETA: You're off all hormonal birth control right? My migraines began when I went on BC (Depo, actually) and they were almost daily. I switched to OCPs {the ones with iron} and they were just as bad. I finally came off ALL BC in June of 06, and mine have decreased dramatically. My gyno ran blood tests and said there is some factor thing in my blood that makes me a bad match for hormonal birth control. I later found out most of the women on my mom's side of the family have the exact same problem.

Yea, i get them really really bad. They are so bad i get sooo nauseous and i couldnt get up and function and go along with my day normally even if I wanted to. I wish I knew what caused mine, too I know it isnt caffeine because i consume caffeine every single day and only really get migraines once or twice a month. But they are incredibly painful!!

My big sister gets them all the time! She gets them a lot around AF time, and also from stress. I have no good answer to how to stop them, I wish I did I know how badly they can hurt! Have you been to a doctor about it?
