Lets come up with a list of WHY WE WAITED and talk about great Green things. Then we can refer to it when we are feeling weak.
(Disclaimer: any non green people reading please don't take offense to list or show disagreement on this thread its totally to support other greeners not to say your wrong we love you to )

Please add YOUR reasons also!

WHY WE WAITED:
1. Motivation in labor ("we will know soon")
2. A TRUE surprise (I mean how many do we get in our lives?)
3. Its going to drive my family crazy (well its a perk for me!)
4. It means alot to DH to wait (for some!)
5. DH doesn't think I can do it (motivates me to prove him wrong!)
6. Who wants ALL pink or ALL blue anyway?! NOT US
7. We are saving money (by have neutral stuff our future children can wear it also)
8. Instead of picking one perfect name we get to pick TWO perfect names
9. Because I like to be different and "everyone else is doing it" always annoyed me
10. We want to find out the sex of our baby once with 100% accuracy! (15% u/s are wrong in predictions)
11. Because I cry everytime I think of my moment when I hear "Its a _____" after a hard day of labor.
12. If the u/s is wrong we will not have to worry about return tons of boy/girl stuff and rushing to come up with a name.
13. People say they liked they want to know so they can be prepared---we are DOUBLE prepared since we can go both ways
14. "if you really want one or the other don't find out til the end cuz you can't be disapointed with an actual baby, but you can be with a photo!"

Still TTC but we will be TEAM GREEN when our turn comes....

Love all the reasons you listed. I look forward to being able to pick both a boy name and a girl name. Although I do admit that boy names are MUCH easier for me than girl names. None of them sound right. I suppose I have time to think :-)

go team green! i could have used a thread like this when i was about oh...18 weeks pregnant!

i am soooo glad that we waited, after a long, difficult delivery that didn't go as planned in ANY way...finding out that Ben was a boy really erased all of the pain and disappointment of the day! and having our friends and family guess not only the weight/length but the sex of the baby was soooo fun! and people will buy you pink/blue after the baby comes, no worries!!

i'm here to support you, team greeners! it's worth the wait!

You girls are awesome! I have no willpower and couldn't do it LoL. The only thing I did gender neutral was the bedding so it could be used again. Can't wait to find out the gender of the babies

I will support your right to NOT know.

Although I will say even though I'm on Team Purple, I think we are going to have to pick out 2 names. I would hate for the ultrasound to be wrong and then for me to have no idea what I'm going to name my little oppposite-of-what-I-thought-it-was gender baby. Even though it means twice the arguments with Dh!

Angela, as I prepare for a second baby number 7 is SO wonderfully true!

I have EVERYTHING I need for the first few months and then some as far as clothing goes, and recieving blankets etc. It's really a huge relief! Also, my carseat, stroller, and other gear is ready to go!

I love the announcement of baby being a girl or boy It's so fun and so exciting!

well even thoguht we're on team purple, I had to mention this. One of DH's good buddies just had his second baby. The doctor said it was a girl..... WRONG!!! I know it doesn't happen often but the doc was wrong.

IDK how it worked in the 80s as far as how many u/s were done, but ILs thought Mike was a girl! Everything was pink, and he went unnamed for 6 days!

When my aunt had her second kid she went in for her c-section (he was sideways breech) and they did an u/s to make sure he was in the same position. They asked if she wanted to know and she said yes. They told her congrats on your second daughter! An hour or so later when she had her section out popped her SON! Of course this was a little over 20 years ago. Good thing they didn't find out early or they wouldn't have been prepared at all for a little boy.

team purple is you don't know yet but you plan to find out via u/s. Since your not team pink or blue but your not waiting like team green.

I also want to add that my cousin had her baby a year ago... all the u/s's said boy, she had like 2-3 because of medical reasons. Had boy baby shower, got all blue stuff, boyish stroller, etc... she had a girl. Now she did go to a small hospital in the middle of nowhere, and my parents like to say maybe they didn't have the newest machines... but still!!!! She didn't return alot, so Katie wears alot of blue

I've been saying since I found out that I'm not going to buy a lot of baby girl things yet until at least my next U/S at 32 weeks. This little one was so bashful that I think I need a second confirmation.

I'm torn

We have our big u/s tmor and although I KNOW the hosp tech will not tell us the gender. I son want to ask him/her to show us baby's bits to see if we can decipher. But then again I want to wait... I don't know what to do!!!!!!!!!!

I love this thread!! I've always wanted to keep it a surprise when the time comes. It just seems more fun. Plus I really do dislike lots of pink and and blue stuff. I'm a big fan of neutral.

My mom didnt know what gender we were ahead of time. In fact, she told me they didnt even do u/s then unless there was a pregnancy complication or reason for concern. But they werent rountine like they are now.

So angela...how do they handle it for medical people who want a surprise? I dont work OB or L/D, so I might not be able to tell the gender during u/s. But I'm afraid DH would be able to tell. And I would HATE for him to know and me to not

They have to look for the anatomy checks they do. But I am going to tell them to turn the screen away from both of us during that part of the check. I think you have to ask though. I'm not really sure how it works at the clinics, it wasn't to often that we did u/s on our unit.

I think for our next, since Ian really wants to know at our big u/s, I'm going to put myself on team *light green.* Meaning, Ian and I will know but we won't tell anyone else until after the baby is born so we can still surprise everyone (and torture at the same time!).
