So last night right before I went to bed, I heard Lily coughing a bit. She's had a runny nose the past couple of days and I'm thinking it's just allergies, but still, my mommy-radar always starts spiking when I hear her cough. Now, I sleep like the dead - seriously. It takes a LOT to wake me up and I was worried that she might be coughing and coughing and I wouldn't hear her, so I decided to bring her into bed with me. So I go in and get her and bring her into my bed. Only problem is, Lily hasn't slept in bed with Mommy since she was six weeks old so instead of going to sleep, it was a big treat for her.
So I start our bedtime routine and figure maybe if I lay down and close my eyes, she'll give up and do the same. So we say our prayers (Lily is so cute, she folds her hands and says "AaaaahMEN! at the end), and then I say, "I love you. Now sleepy babies go night night!" and give her a kiss on her forehead. I lay down and shut my eyes and Lily sits there for a moment trying to figure out what is going on. Eventually she scoots over next to me and says, "Wuv you. Sweepy mama night night!" and then she kissed my forehead.
I seriously wanted to burst into tears, it was so sweet. She never did settle down enough to sleep in my bed, but it was totally cute just the same.
