We've been having problems with our cats for the last couple months. They've been peeing in the bathtub, under the bed in Dominick's room, on a freshly washed blanket and this morning on Dominick's books that he had pulled off the shelf. This morning was the first time we had caught the cat doing it and I'm assuming it's been her all along. The thing is it's not just pee, theres blood in it and when I caught her crouching over the books it was only blood. Not a lot, just 3 drops but it's got me kind of freaked out. It's not normal is it? Taking her to the vet is pretty much a last resort because we very literally can't afford a checkup so does anyone know what it could be?

Sounds like a urinary tract infection and its been going on a while its probably a kidney infection by now. Sorry to say--its time for the vet. If indeed it made it to the kidney's it can be deadly if it gets bad.

*sigh* Made her an appt for tomorrow. I think they dropped their rates, the exam is only going to be $60 but any prescriptions or anything else is going to be more... My poor kitty. I don't think she's in any pain, she's just as happy as usual..

I've set her up in the bathroom with some food and water and newspapers which she's actually using. I feel bad having to lock her in there but I don't want her to use any of Dominick's toys.

Vet Nurse Sam here :-)
Yes, it definetly sounds like she has a UTI. They will most likely want to do a urine analysis and some kidney function bloodwork. They'll give you some pills and probabaly about 150-200 dollars later you will be on your way.
As for why she is peeing everywhere -- Do you have multiple cats? (i think you do) Sometimes cats dont like sharing litter pans and want a pan of their very own. Imagine if you used the SAME dirty diaper on your kid. He wouldnt like it much, neither do some cats. I would keep 2-3 litterpans throughout the house. She also might not like the litter. Try litter crystals. They are dust free and odor free. Some cats are REALLY picky. Is she spayed? If not, i gurentee you, if you get that done, she'll stop. If she already is, she is trying to show she is boss over your baby, so she marks all this things.

Sam. I have TONS of experience (see my cat siggy in the marquee siggy..mommy to 5 cats) and have an aunt who was ex vet..she's my "go to" help girl
Also it could be bahvioral problems...something is bothering your cat. Stress...sickness, etc.
Usually the vet are pretty good not overcharging medicines. I tend buy meds worth of under $50...depending where you are. I go to a clinic for low income people. I hate petsmart banfield..they do nothing. Anyway... as for peeing everywhere..that's related to behavioral probs. I have 5 cats and man they are not the same! I have 2 cats that REFUSES use literbox if there is a poop...they will pee/poop on bath rug.
When we moved to new location they had behaviral problems...just gotta be consistent with them and show lots affection.
I have HUGE literbox to fit multiple cats. Is there way you can go to petsmart and buy HUGE literbox for $20. That's what I bought. All cats love it better than boodha dome or the regular boxes cuz its too small for them to get comfy & do their business.
Peroxide will remove blood like there was no blood! Lol
Blood in urine can be anything..uti is one of em..but really find out can be thru blood test & among others. I've only had problem with blood in poop in the past. Its not easy and I know its scary to see blood! I freak out for a min and say oh no but I go to vet and take care of it just like I treat them as my own children.
How to remove pee stain, I use lemon scent dish soap, baking soda, peroxide, mix in bowl..and use hard brittle to rub the heck out of it!
Good luck!
Edited for spelling

It's 12:30pm here and her appt isn't until 3:40. I'll let you all know what the vet says sometime tonight.

Well my sweet little kitty is lucky, it's only a UTI. The doctor was surprised it's not worse since he said it seems like she's had it for a while. He gave her a shot in the bum and gave me 7 days worth of liquid antibiotics and said to keep an eye on her, if it doesn't stop before the antibiotics run out then he'll give me some more and if it doesn't stop after that then he'll do a urine analysis. Luckily there was enough left on my credit card to pay for it but if anything else happens before next payday... well, lets just hope nothing else happens.

I hope your kitty is feeling good and back to normal soon. I know I hate it when mine are sick.
