Okay, so I did my 1st tri screen today plus the nuchal. Baby's neck is w/in normal limits & is measuring exact (12 wks. 5 days). The genetic counselor was able to tell me more about my alpha thalassemia (I'm alpha thalassemia minor) & they took Brant's blood to make sure he's not a carrier (which is highly unlikely given that he is only Japanese unlike me). But she did say to let Abby's ped. know because the ped. might want to do some testing in the future.
Baby was pretty wiggly, and this is the part that has me confused. The dr. asked if I wanted to know what I was having. I thought it was way too early & told him so. He said he'd see if he could get a look between the legs but he could only give me about an 80% sure. So, he says boy. But yeah...isn't it like waaay too early? When is the fetal age when you can tell for sure; don't both genders have something penis-like at some point? Anyway, I'm thinking of buying some boy stuff on my next shopping trip but making sure I can return it if I need to!
I have to go back on October 22nd to do another u/s, and as long as my bloodwork comes back okay I won't need to go any earlier. At least they were able to give me a later appointment next time so we don't have to take off from work.
Anyway, I'm too lazy now, but I will try to scan some pics later. The 4d ones look pretty blobby, but the regular ones are kinda cute. Oh yeah, and I also got a cd (which I'm going to check out now!)
So glad to hear your bean is looking healthy! I want pics!![/b]
Done! Took me forever to figure this out w/ my current computer/all-in-one, but at least they did it on a cd. I can't do my other u/s pics w/out taking photos of them, I think!
I think the under 16 weeks sex determination is like 60% correct (from 12-16 weeks). It goes off the nub theory---that boys have more of a nub then girls that month.
glad all went well!!!
I'm glad your appointment went well!!! I'm pretty sure I found out I was having a boy at 15 weeks (I might be off by a week) But it was very obvious at that point I saw his little twig and berry's lol! Maybe wait on the shopping until your next u/s just in case! Can't wait to see the pics!!!

Thanks so much to Helen for my beautiful siggy
Congrats! They told me Gem was a girl at 11 or 12 weeks. It was confirmed when I was 34 or 35 weeks. Usually when they say boy they are right. It is usually easier to miss something that is there than it is to see something that isn't there if you catch my drift.
