Does anyone else have a cat who can be aggressive? JW. My cat is like that but only toward me. And it's not all the time, but at random times every so often, he will jump up and try to bite or scratch & sometimes he succeeds. And the majority of the time he's perfectly fine, willing to be carried/petted/scratched/have his tummy rubbed, etc. Usually it's not that bad, but on Monday, he managed to draw blood on both my boob & my nipple. I was really upset at the time, and when I yelled at him and pushed him away, Abby started bawling because she thought she had done something wrong, which made me more upset. And I guess it was probably more sore b'c I had just cut his nails the previous night. At first I seriously wanted to get rid of him, but he doesn't act like that to Abby or anyone else...just me! And this is MY CAT...I'm the one who feeds him, takes care of him, he sleeps w/ me if I'm not sleeping w/ Abby, etc. WTH???

My girl cat can be pissy sometimes but usually I am the one that initiates it. As in, I'm petting her and touch her back leg and she doesn't like that. Or I try to trim her nails. Then sometimes she'll give a little scratch or bite. But as far as just randomly being aggressive, I don't know what to tell you. Can you tell when she has "that look in her eye" and just avoid her when she is being a pissy cat?

One of our cats is aggressive. It used to be that I was the only one he wouldn't attack but a few months ago he changed his mind, now he attacks everyone. He's so irritable, you walk by him and he meows with his annoyed voice.

Hmm Im not sure. When Cotten was a kitten from 12 weeks until about 9 months she would attack me. No joke. Not to anyone else but me. My face, hands, whole body would be covered in cat scratchings. I tried everything!! Spray bottle, shaking a can with change in it, I even started tapping her in the face. But all of it just increased it, then literally she woke up and was like Im not gonna be mean to my mommy anymore.

Maybe your cat, thinks that bc your the mommy its ok to do it to you cuz your not going to get really really mad at him. That you will always love them. I would try though when he starts getting mean to try either spraying him in the face with water, so he knows they did something wrong.

How old is the kitty?

Good luck sweetie, I hope he stops!

Your cat is showing some jealousy because he knows you are pregnant and he is afraid you will show him less attention. It happened to me and my mom MANY times. What I do, give him shower of affection, buy him toys, a cat tree and a cat stand BY the window so he can look out the window to keep him busy and calm.

Do you watch Houseat House call http://www.housecathousecall.com/Default.aspx on Animal Planet. I noticed every cases the vet suggested the cat owner to provide grass and a cat stand by the window to calm the cats.

Example of cat stand is ideal for cat owners to have. I had one (man-made) and it was VERY useful for all of my 5 cats. I'm telling you, before we had that, the cats would go WILD and go into EVERYTHING. It was frustrating. My friend wanted to get rid of his homemade cat stand for $5... I took it and put it by the window...the cats LOVED IT and I noticed their attitudes toned down.

Might be worth a try. You could always buy a smaller cat stand at Walmart or Target.

My landlord's cat Tornado is always hissing at us even tho we didn't do anything. I bought Feliway diffuser plugin and it worked! It's sold at Petsmart http://www.petsmart.com/product/inde...ductId=2755197
If you don't want to buy the plug-in, you can buy the Feliway Cat Pheromone Spray or any spray that has pheromone. It calms the cat. What I do on visitors before they come in the house, I spray the pheromone spray on the legs (that's where the cats tend to rub first) then welcome the visitor inside. As for you, I would spray the pheromone on your pants and walk toward the cat... do not make eye contact. Cats HATES eye contact. Just act normal and sit near the cat. Let the cat come to you. Cat hates CONTROL from humans. They like to be in control.
Good luck!

Okay, I'm going to try to reply to everything but am too lazy to quote...

Smokey is 4.5 years old. He has been like this for YEARS now. I can't remember if it started when I was preggo w/ Abby, but TBH, I don't think so. He used to curl up by my preggo belly & sleep like that. And he is fine w/ Abby & has always been, so I don't think it's jealousy.

We have a cat stand for him...it has 5 different levels but not that box part...do I need that box thing on there too?

I do try to avoid him when he's in attack mode, but sometimes I literally need to walk by him to get somewhere.

I am surprised I never did think of the spray bottle...duh... I have one on my bathroom counter, and he usually attacks me near there so that should be easy to remember.

I don't know about the spray 'cause I usually am wearing shorts so I don't know if that would work...maybe if the water thing doesn't I'll order that.

Some cats love the box where they can curl up in the box in the dark.

I don't support water spray bottle because most cats are stubborn anyway. My cats "laughs" at me if I spray water at them. I think its pointless, jmo.

Try pheromone spray or diffuser. I SWEAR by it.

Thats exactly what Cotten was like when I used to do it to her. I finally gave up, just protected myself, and she grew out of it. Shes still really b****y she wont come around anyone but me really. A lot of my friends are actually scared of her.

Nikki I think it's hilarious when cats "laughs" at you when you try to punish them... You can't resist their sweet face
