I am at a loss. Breakfast is easy--oatmeal and fruit. Dinner I can handle too. But lunch is my Achilles heel!
I need to eat healthy, and my fricking doctor still doesn't want me eating bread or pasta (which I am talking to him about b/c I think blobby needs carbs!). So sandwiches and pasta salad is out. That is all I had for lunch ideas!
And then there are snacks. All I can think of is cheese and raw veggies. But raw broccoli and carrots gets old fast. What do you all eat for lunch and snacks? Give me some ideas please! I need to go shopping for the week today, and I want to make sure blobby is healthy. I need a BPA free waterbottle too. I am starting to feel overwhelmed alreayd; I have so much to do and I feel like I have cotton balls on my brain.

I eat alot of protein because of Body For Life-- protein shakes, cottage cheese with yogurt or fruit (I used to HATE this). I make up protein pancakes and eat those, eggs (hardboiled or scrambled), chicken, fish, ham, turkey, protein bars (you can make your own), peanut butter

For lunch I eat sandwiches a lot, but that doesn't help you. I also like to make veggie soup, with beans. Delicious.
For snacks, I like fruit or yogurt.

My lunch menu varies but here in Barbados we tend to eat heavy lunches. These are my favorite things to have for lunch:
- pasta, usually chicken/shrimp penne/fetuccine with veggies (brocolli, carrots, bell peppers, mushrooms, onions) and alfredo sauce
- lasagna or shepherd's pie
- sandwiches (ham, tuna or chicken with veggies and cheese)
- potato (creamed, scalloped, baked, fried) with flying fish/meat (chicken or lamb usually)
- vegetable fried rice with shrimp/flying fish/meat (chicken or lamb usually)
For snacks I usually have:
- fruit (pear, apple, nectarines, watermelon, grapes, oranges, dried cranberries and prunes)
- dry cereal - frosted mini wheats, whetabix, strawberry honey bunches of oats
- pretzels
- food drink (Nestle Supligen)
- cookies
- potato chips (Pringles or Lays Ruffles)
Dinner for me is usually some kind of sandwich, cereal with milk, eggs and crackers, anything quick but not overly heavy.

lunch is some kind of wrap using whole wheat tortillas and chicken or turkey usually, and heavy on veggies.
Snacks are:
oatmeal bars
cheese and crackers
peanut butter on apple slices
chicken strips and cheese
cottage cheese
fruit smoothies.

I forgot to say that I often make a very big dinner so I'll have leftovers for lunch the day after. I'm making paella tonight and I'll have some left for tomorrow

I eat either a salad, loaded with everything, chick peas, olives, sliced almonds, egg salad, and dressing, or I have yogurt with granola. I started a new healthy eating routine this past month, and I can honestly say, I feel really good. And if I forget to bring lunch, I have slim fast bars, which amazingly, fill me up pretty good.

My favorite things for lunch are low sodium soup and left overs. Can you make a larger dinner and have left overs the next day? For snacks, I love yogurt, fresh fruit, cottage cheese, and anything with peanut butter on it

Does your doc just recommend cutting bread and pasta, or limiting all carbs? Because there are carbs in fruits, juices, etc. When I was on my carb restricted diet for my GD, I ate yogurt, string cheese or cheese & crackers, sandwiches (I found a bread that was only 1 carb choice for 2 slices...so 15g of carb in 2 slices!), carrots and dip, tuna salad on crackers, and I snacked a lot on nuts and veggies.

the only thing about that is I wouldn't have it too often b'c I think pollock is a larger fish & higher in mercury content. I could be wrong, but I try to limit my consumption of artificial crab. It does sound yummy (minus the celery, LOL), though!
I am not very healthy, but when I had to change my diet last time due to high blood sugar (not GD), I ate a lot of peanut butter. My nutritionist was impressed w/ the Skippy PB bars. Right now I try to eat pistachios for protein, and I have edamame in my freezer that I will probably boil up when I'm not being lazy.
Lunch is either a sammich, some sort of Lean Cuisine, frozen CPK pizza, etc. I honestly don't remember what I was eating for lunch last time nor dinner, either. I think I was stuck w/ veggies and meat (and I don't usually eat too many meats, period).

Only some carbs are off limits since I can eat fruit and oatmeal and this awful zero grams fo sugar cereal. But no juice. I just don't care for the carbs he says are ok lol
Leftovers are a great idea!

Well, fruits are simple sugars so they would burn off quickly. I'm sorry you're so restricted; I totally hated it last time...and the bizarre thing was my nutritionist said no fruit and to eat full-fat ice cream every day (just a couple of TBSP)...I just thought he was insane!

My normal eating habit is one large meal for dinner. When I was in WTTC wt loss...some of the girls were great and supported me eating 3 meals a day....it was so hard for me....and then when m/s kicked in my old diet came right back. So lets see if I eat before dinner its usually snickers/pringles/lays/etc (all crap food).

I forgot to add pumpkin seeds as a snack...I am pretty sure they are rather low carb.

I found an awesome BPA free water bottle at Target. It is called Intak by Thermos. I love it! It has really helped me track my water intake better over this weekend, and it is easy to use. I sound like a commercial. But you all should check it out. I got the pink one.

girl you have got to start providing links!
i just tried to find it on target.com and really couldn't, but I wanted to add... the more you say 'thermos' the less it sounds like a word.
it also sounds like something with a lisp.
