So my morning starts with my doorbell ringing at 7am.. its the police.. they hand Chris a piece of paper and say

"Do you own that black ford explorer?" and point to my car..
Chris said "well it's my girlfriends, but she lives here"
(policeman) --> "well it was hit by a drunk driver at 2:30 this morning, but it looks driveable."
(chris) --> "WHAT!?"
(policeman) --> "she is 19 and was driving drunk and hit your girlfriends car sir.."

So Chris starts freaking out and comes to tell me.. I go look at the car and think to myself, "ok it doesnt look too bad" so then I took pics and called my insurance company (they were amazing!) after getting ready to go to work (now an hour late!) I go to get into my car.. there was a mark on the ground from where my car was pushed when she hit it! She was driving a little ford focus and moved my SUV 2 FREAKING FEET!! My road is small and the speed limit is only 20.. she clearly had to have been doing double that!

So now I'm driving around with a busted up front bumber and front fender.. It's going to get fixed on monday @ 8am.. no idea how long it will be there, but I will have a rental car.. I told them I am used to driving an SUV I will NOT drive anything smaller than a mid-size car, I just dont feel safe in them..

I hope the girl is ok after hitting my car that hard, but I do hope she learned her lesson! She is so young to learn that kind of lesson, but I'm just happy she is alive, and didnt hurt anyone else!

best part.. chris got up to get a drink at 2:30 this morning and heard an alarm going off and saw the police lights, but thought it was for the loser that lived across the street that keeps getting arrested for assault! nope.. it was my car!

Ugh!! I don't know why people can't learn to drink responsibly or have a designated driver! She could have killed herself! Anyway, I'm glad your car wasn't too badly damaged!

I live with one too.. He said to me right before I left this morning for work..
"I wish I could have gone and told that girl what she has done to her life.. I wish she knew what she was going to be going through before she got in the car!"

Then he said.. "I wish you could have told her how much this is going to hurt her family, and everyone that cares about her.. I wish someone had told me.."

I cried..

Oh my...i hope the girl learn a lesson. It could've been serious.
I hope your suv gets fixed soon. This hit close at home for me as well. My brother was a drunk driver and he regrets it every day and became a Pastor. Aww what your DBF said...

So it appears as tho the girl that hit my car isnt even being charged for hitting my car! Here is the court info.. I'm hoping when Nov 25th rolls around there are more charges!! I got the estimate yesterday and its $2900! and.. I'll be without my car until the end of next week.. at least!

Here is the court log from the paper..

"S" 19, of ..., charged with driving under the influence of alcohol or .08 percent, continued to Nov. 25.

thats it! Nothing else! WTH!

A continuance could just mean she was arraigned and had to get a court appointed attorney. I was pulled over about 6 weeks ago and had to go through sobriety tests and all that crap. I blew a .05, but I will NEVER have a SIP of alcohol and drive again!

Well when Chris got arrested for it the first time.. they listed all his charges right up front.. he was charged with reckless driving, speeding, and DUI.. I just hope that she is going to get charged with causing an accident..
