Okay, maybe concerned is a better word. Anyway, I will have a scheduled c-sec this time, as delivery and all its after effects were rough on me last time. Both my urogynecologist & OB agree, so I'm fine w/ that. I guess I'm worried about going into labor before the c-sec. date and then it progressing really quickly and me having another vag. delivery and possibly worsening my current conditions. I had a rather long labor w/ Abs (L & D was 28 hours), so would that mean that if I had a sescond labor, it might be more like 15 or 20 hours? ('Cause that would be enough time to get to the hospital & get my c-sec and tubal done, I'm sure.) I mean, it wouldn't be like some ridiculously short time wouldn't it? I know 2 co-workers who had super short 2nd labors and almost delivered in the car. One had a pretty long first labor (though not as long as mine), and I'm not sure about the other one.

They usually schedule you about a week or two before your due date. Also I believe they can get you into an emergency c section pretty fast!

I would express your concerns with your doctor and see what they say. I wouldn't think that you would have that short of a labor that they couldn't do a c section.

Every labor is different, so what you do in the past doesn't show us what you will do in the future (as far as time is concerned). And we can do a crash c-section in less in 20 min. But you will get the belly button to pubic bone incision-its the fast way. But since your not an emergency they can still do a normal c/s in 30-40 min, a little longer if you want an epidural instead of being knocked out. So even if you do go into a quick labor....you most likely have time to still have the c/s---best thing to do is call the hospital and tell them your coming in.

My dr. says he doesn't necessarily agree w/ the recommendations, but maybe b'c of insurance purposes or something he said he usually does it about a week before the due date. And I have nothing to indicate that I'd go early or anything...just paranoia, I guess. I have no idea when I will get a definite date, but he says that he usually does his c-secs on Wed. or Fri. which would mean 3/18 or 3/20 (DH is partial to the 20th b'c Abby's bday is 9/20). He has said he doesn't see why they can't be performed a little earlier, esp. since we are quite certain of when I conceived & how far along I am.

I know I'm just being silly, but I'm sure I'll get over it. As long as I don't go into sudden labor during rush hour traffic and there's an accident (there's notorious traffic where I live just to get out of my town & onto the freeway...and the freeway is a nightmare at that hour.)

And yes, it's dumb to think that because I know people whose labors have progressed really quickly that mine would too. My 1st one did not go quick at all. And I already know women don't necessarily have similar labors to their mothers (which would have been great for the 1st one...5 hours...but w/ my bro they were trying to stop labor but couldn't & he came out in a couple of pushes).

Okay, Angela, so if they have to go the fast route would that have any effect on whether or not I could get my tubal at that time? JW.

Your not being silly at all! I would be worried about the same thing! I'm scared I wont get to the hospital in time... I really don't want a baby born at home or in a car!

Thanks, Stephy! My co-worker's dr. actually told her that her labors were getting so quick that if she has a 3rd child, she shoud prepare for a home birth ! And Brant was a great labor coach, but I don't think I'd want him to deliver our baby...I wouldn't want the car/home birth, either!

Open is opened.... they shouldn't have any issue doing your tubal then also.

That is great news! Thanks for replying. I would be rather sad if I couldn't get it done then...I know Brant is more than willing to get the big V done, but I want the TL since I am going to be open anyhow.
