I've always read that you should sleep on your left side. When does that start to matter? I always start out on my left side but switch to right side from time to time because it's more comfy. Then somehow I wake up on my back on occassion.

If your healthy (no bloodpressure issues) it really doesn't matter l/r side. The hard one is off the back......depends on how much you have gained for when that becomes more an issue. From your pictures I would say your just find for back sleeping still! Usually your body just knows where it needs to sleep and you move there, your body is pretty good about not letting you be in a way that hurts anything.

The only thing I was always told is that the siatic(sp) nerve is on the right side, I slept on that side while pregnant some of the time with Seamus, and then after he was born and he co-slept for 5mo and now have issues with it. Not everyone has issues but thats the reasoning i've been told, is to not pinch that nerve.

I heard the same thing about not sleeping on the right side. All I can say though is that sleeping is going to be hard for me when pregnant. I sleep the majority of the time on my stomach... so we'll see how that goes I guess.

I never worried, with Ryan I slept how I wanted and just moved when I wasn't comfortable anymore.

I'm lucky and sleep on my left side. Sometimes right side but I've never been a tummy or back sleeper. However, at the swollen stage I'm at now, I couldn't sleep on my back even if I wanted to, it stretches my tummy muscles too much. If I wake up on my back, it's uncomfy to roll over.

I try to sleep on my left side as much as possible and occasionally I turn on my back but I usually use a pillow to rest on so I'm not flat on my back. Sometimes it's uncomfortable but I try to do what they say is best.

I still sleep a lot on my stomach. And then I switch for left to right throughout the night. I asked my midwife and she said I can lay on my back up to 5 months but after that to avoid it. I told her I'm a stomach sleeper. She said to use pillows as my belly grows.

I always tried to sleep on my left but I pretty regularly switched between left and right. Sometimes I'd go to my back but I always stuck a pillow under me so I wasn't completely flat. You'll see, once you get bigger you won't have a choice but to sleep on your side because your back won't be comfy at all. You'll be all about the pillows--I had one under my back, one under my belly, and one between my legs.

When you get down to the end all you'll want to do Is sleep on your side. If you sleep on your left It helps the blood flow better from and for the heart....

I sleep on my back and left side right now, I've just never liked sleeping on my right side. It's getting harder to lay on my back though, the good ol uterus is starting to push up on my lungs and it's making it harder to breathe By 6/7 months, I'll only be able to sleep half decent on my sides.

Right now I'm really struggling with this...I mostly sleep on my back, and it's so hard forcing myself to sleep on my side. I don't know if a body pillow might help, but I'll look into it. I'm tossing and turning way too much at night.

Can i chime in guys? There will come a point were what you are supposed to do doesn't matter, because simply the little one in your belly kicks and pushes the heck out of you and your obtained position until they are the ones liking it, and towards the end which i feel so hard now your body hurts and pains in so many different places that you simply seek for 1 position to sleep in without pain, or kicking pushing shoving and soreness......and if that 1 position can make you sleep more than 2 hours feel blessed
