I had an EKG done back during my horrific L&D experience and the "doctor" there said my EKG looked fine. At my follow-up appt two days later, the OB (an actual OB, not an intern) said my EKG was NOT fine and that I needed to be monitored for SVT. I'm guessing that means some sort of arrhythmia was on the EKG, but I never got clarification. However, in the words of one of the cardiac nurses, "An OB shouldn't be interpreting an EKG anyway."
(It's all kind of a mess over at that hospital which is why I'm in the process of getting out of the military medical system and going back over to the civilian side. Anyway.)
I don't think I have SVT and neither do any of the ICU/Cardio-Pulmonary nurse friends that I talked to. I think we're making mountains out of molehills and that what I have actually have is just costochondritis - inflammation of the cartilage in my ribcage. It burns on the side of my ribs to breathe and it's superficially tender to the touch, NONE of which makes sense for an actual cardio-pulmonary problem. However, I do appreciate that they are leaving no stone unturned and are investigating my symptoms to ensure that I do not have any major, underlying issues.
Haha, ok. I'll stop with the medical psychobabble now!
