I hate talking on the phone. I will avoid it if at all possible. (Yes, I know it's irrational, and I am actually better about it than I used to be.) So today I worked up the courage to call the doctor's to set up an appointment. They said they don't typically see people until 8-10 weeks so I am scheduled for Nov. 26 (exactly 9 weeks).

It feels like it is an ETERNITY away.

this is what my doctor's office said and they wanted the date of my last period - I told the lady that that wouldn't be exactly right but she said that is the way they have to do it so they would adjust it if that is what it shows (that I am not as far along as my LP would show).....so I'm going Nov 5th and they are thinking I'm three weeks ahead of what I will be (they think 8 and I'll be 5 something) - oh well!

Are you going to your family doctor or an ob/gyn? I hate the phone too--just thinking about calling someone gives me anxiety attacks! I think I'll make DH call for my appointments...

Anyway, good luck (with the appt and the waiting!)!!

It can seem like an eternity but that time will be here so quickly. I didnt get seen until I was 9 weeks either but it was worth it because I could clearly see the heartbeat and some little arm and leg buds moving around.

Congratulations on your happy event, just keep on telling yourself, "only Next month", and in a few days, when it turns November you can say, "This month".

HA this is so funny - I had a friend at work call for me....it was pretty hilarious - she said things I would never say but the nurse lady was laughing (so I lied when I said I tried to tell the nurse - it was actually my friend but I felt stupid saying that - now I feel better)......I was nervous b/c the first time around the doc told me I was pregnant and not the other way around. Routine blood work to find out why my cycle was so long and irregular resulted in an "oh your pregnant"! with DS!

Yay for the first appt!! Once I put my ticker up the time flew by! I am glad I waited so long for the first appt (I had no choice, lol) just b/c I got to see the heartbeat and would have known for sure if something wasn't right up to this point since I was already almost at 8 weeks. So I hope the time passes quickly enough for you

And fyi, I used to have major phone issues until I worked as a receptionist and had no choice I still hate being the one to order take-out.

Oh I remember calling when I was 4 weeks to get my dr appt and it was between 8-9 weeks. But they did an U/S and I saw the heartbeat! It was great! Seemed like forever waiting that month... then now waiting to find out the sex./... lots of waiting!!!

Can't wait to hear all about it! Day before Thanksgiving! That will be neat maybe for you to bring a picture, a first picture to thanksgiving to show your family

I am actually really excited it is before Thanksgiving. Because I will be able to share new news with family (they will already know but I am sure they will want to hear an update). The only downfall is that DH is a teacher and he isn't allowed to take time off the day before or the day after a scheduled school holiday. My appointment is 9:30am the day before his holiday so he will most likely not be able to be there. Hopefully he will be able to make it to some of the other appointments. Oh well.
