I am gathering music to put in my ipod to play to my baby. I've read that Mozart is great, any other suggestions? Did you play anything specific? And did you use headphones? I have some great bose ones that I can turn up loud and play directly into my belly.

I'm not sure what's great or not but I play soothing music that I like and I don't think you need to turn up the music really loud because I understand that the amniotic fluid is a good conductor of sound waves. (Don't know if this is factual but I remember reading it somewhere.)

Some of the songs I like playing are Ordinary Miracle by Sarah McClachlan, I Believe in You by Il Divo and Celine Dion, When you Believe by Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston and other sounds of the sort. In addition I play hip hop, soca, classical, alternative and any other songs that I like. I don't play the music for a long time either. Generally it's 1-2 songs at a time. I won't have the headphones on my stomach for an hour playing music but that's just me. I don't know what is recommended.

Honestly I have never been a fan of playing music for just the baby haha. I usually turn on loud music and dance! baby loves motion and movement! I also play music that I would play when baby is here, in my every day life.

Curtis LOVES music. So we usually have a couple of dance "sessions" a day Baby loves it and so does Curtis.

For stuff aimed just for baby, I'd rather read to baby, or just talk.

Of course that's just my opinion! Stick with music you would normally play It's fun to see their taste when they are born haha!!

My DH the music educator CRINGES at putting headphones on the belly (with headphones it is too loud for baby even turned on a soft volume). Music is great but just play it in the room at a volume so that you can hear it and baby will too.

thanks girls! I'm glad I asked... I wouldve put the headphones on super loud thinking that the baby wouldn't hear it. I will just play through my computer normally. I plan to read books too

I didn't put headphones on my belly when pregnant. I personally don't agree with doing that. I think there is no real way of knowing if it bothers the baby or not. I listened to my classical music while pregnant at a normal volume. Now that Oliver is here we listen to it before bed time and sometimes during the day.
