We've chosen Dane as our son's name. It has been hard to find a name that Brant & I both like, and we agree on this one. I recently remembered, though, that I am almost 100% sure that my SIL's nephew's name is also Dane. So now I'm thinking we should change it. It's not like we see SIL's family often (BIL & SIL live out of state & we'll see SIL's relatives when we visit), but to me it seems weird that BIL would have 2 nephews w/ the same name. What do you think?

I like that name alot, and if you like it that much and don't see them too often, you should go for it!

Personally- I chose Kayla for our girl name... and SIL's best friends daughter and cousin's best friend's daughter is named McKayla... and we see them at almost every birthday party. It was too close for me, so I've decided against the name Kayla, cuz its not as special to me as it was when I came up with it.

I say go for it. While preggo, my mom decided on Andrew as my younger brothers name. Then my aunt decided she really liked it as well. The two Andrews are 2 months apart and although we didn't see them but a few times a year, the boys both thought it was really cool to have the same name. We just used first and middle names when they were both together.

I don't think it's so strange - you should use it if you really love it! We considered Anna for a girl name, even though Jon's cousin named her baby Hannah (I know, two different names, but still very similar!). I think you just have to pick what you like, especially if you won't see the other people very often!

I think that if you guys really like the name then you should stick with it. Dane is a lovely name.

I have a sister and a cousin who have the same name (they spent a lot of their younger years together too) and I also have 2 cousins with the same name.
