So we were talking last night, and I know I've said before Lauren was our perfect girl name, but DHs nephew called their baby (born in May), Lauren so we felt we couldnt' use it.
Neither could agree on girlie names, we were quite settled with Ryan or Scot for a boy (yep deliberate Scot spelling as opposed to Scott - DHs middle name is Scot). We are now more settled for girl names: Emma or Lara.... we thought Lara is very close to Lauren but not too similar. Both of us love Lara!
We have a 3 syllable surname so have to keep it soft and short. Of course... this will probably change again soon

Me too!!! But I'm still really loving Emma too! It's so difficult giving this tiny person a name they have to use for their entire life!!
My other top fave is Kate but DH isn't keen on it How rude!

I think Scot is a little higher on the ranks than Ryan. But time will tell. All could change in the next 10 weeks It's just nice to be further forward than "no i don't like that"

I think that both Lara and Emma are pretty names! Are you pronouncing Lara as Lau-ra or Lah-ra?
You have pretty strong boy's names already so I think you're set there...you could use both names too like Scot Ryan "Sirname" or Ryan Scot "sirname" so you get both of your top names in there.

Lara pronounced lar-raaaaaaaaaa the more I say it, the more I adore it. Our surname begins with m so Emma M.... is kinda "maybe, maybe not" still. But Lara is yey! I guess it all depends on PP or VJ
