Hey girls! I'm back. Well, technically, I've been back since Wed. afternoon, but we were so busy with Thanksgiving that I haven't had a chance to post. We had an awesome visit, other than dealing with snow. lol We left on the 20th around 6:30 pm. My brother's fiancee ended up not being able to go because of one of her professors, so it was just my brother, mom, dad, and me. We drove straight through with no problems until we got into Michigan. No more than maybe 25 miles into Michigan, a blizzard hit! I was driving of course! I started to panic because I really couldn't see anything. I learned later that it's called a white out when that happens. Anyways, so I pulled over on the shoulder so that my dad could drive. Well, we were in his Explorer, which is a rear wheel drive, and I guess that's not the best kind of car to have when you have a lot of snow and ice, because as soon as he started to pull back onto the road, we started sliding sideways. We ended up at the bottom of a deep ditch! Thankfully, it wasn't steep, but it was deep enough that the cars on the road couldn't see our car, so we're assuming it was about 12 ft. down or more. Luckily, no one was hurt and the car was fine. We basically just slid down the hill. As soon as we started sliding, I prayed out loud, "Please God, let us be ok!" and I guess it worked. The car was stuck in the mud, so we had to get out and try to push it while Dad tried to get it back up the hill, but it wasn't working. Mom and I walked back up to the road and flagged down a few people. We thought we were gonna have to call a tow truck, but somehow, my brother managed to drive down a little ways in the ditch to a part that gradually went up, and he got it out. The people we flagged down said they couldn't believe that he got it out! We ended up stopping back by the spot where we slid off on the way home 4 days later. By that time, most of the snow had melted. I took a couple pics. When it happened, it was snowing pretty heavy, so we couldn't see what was around us, but when we stopped back by, we saw something pretty cool. Right before the area that we slid off, there were 3 huge crosses! I don't know what they were for. I guess they were just like decorations or something, but it just made me really think that God was definitely watching out for us that day. Here is a pic of the ditch and one of the crosses. You can't really tell that the ditch was as deep as it was, but you can still see the tire tracks from when it happened.
Once we got back on the road, the snow let up a little, and finally stopped about 5 miles down the road. It was just a stretch of about 8 miles, and the rest of the way it was clear again. We arrived at my aunts house around 5:30 Friday evening. We spent a little time visiting, and went to bed pretty early because we were sooo tired from driving almost 24 hours straight. The next day, Sat., we went to my cousin's high school hockey game. It was the first time any of us had been to one, and we all really liked it! His team lost, but it was their first game of the season, so hopefully they'll get better. After we got back from the game, we headed over to see my Grandma for the first time. I was expecting her to be pretty much bedridden, but she was actually doing really well. She was just like I remembered her, except she didn't have much hair. It had just started growing back. I only got one pic that you can kinda see her in because I didn't know how she would feel about someone taking pics of her. We ordered pizza, and just sat around catching up. She talked about being ready to go see my Grandpa. There is a country song by Brad Paisley called "Waitin' on a Woman". She said it is her and my Grandpa's song. She said he's been sitting on that bench waiting for her for 18 years and she is ready to go be with him! Here is a link to the video if you haven't seen it...
Waitin on a Woman We basically just spent most of our time with her. We played out in the snow for a little while Monday. My Grandma had a sled, so we got it out and pulled each other on it. lol I got a pic of my brother pulling my dad. I really didn't get to take too many pics. A couple pics of the snow, and some of my family, but that's about it. Here's a few pics..
