So I told my mom that I already had some clothes I've bought for baby. I have a big collection, mostly onsies. I never buy anything unless it's on an awesome sale or at a consignment. I've been collecting for more than a year now. Anyways, she said she wanted to see what I had as to know what to buy for baby. I bring out my 66 Qt. Rubbermaid that's nearly full and she made fun of me! She said that I bought too much and how can anyone give me gifts. I said all we have is clothes so there are lot of things we still need. But at the same time, babies can go through a few onsies a day sometimes. What's the big deal? I certainly didn't break the bank buying it all. She was laughing as she left and said just wait until I tell your stepdad how much you've already gotten.

Okay, baby is making me alittle cranky but my feelings were hurt.

I know exactly how you feel. I've gotten similar comments from my mom when she hears about what Nic and I have gotten for Conner. She gets all upset and tells us what we can and can not get because people want to buy it for us for the shower..it's like...my son, i will buy what I want ya know?

Sorry she hurt your feelings Babies need clothes though dangit so buy away, I say!

DHs mum passed comments when I bought our pram, it was "far too early" and i was "far too prepared". But you know what, it's your baby, you can buy what you like! It's an exciting time, don't let some comments spoil that for you!

Good for you sweety! Honestly You are preparing for your baby and that's great! I think you should buy what you want when you want.

I never understood people that waited for other people to buy things for their baby. If you feel the need to start preparing now, then do so! People will buy you whatever else you need You wouldn't want to fully depend on other anyways, even if you have a good idea that they will be buying you lots.

Good for you for being prepared! You have to remember that your not gonna get ALL the clothes you need at a shower. My mom has a hard time grasping that fact too. Ive been stocking up on clothes for the last 18 months because i know im not having a huge shower or maybe even a shower at all since i dont have many girlfriends or family.

You keep stocking up :-) And preparing for baby :-)

I think it's great! I started buying stuff as soon as I found out Taylor was a girl and I had CLOSETS and DRESSERS full of stuff for her. It made the time pass during the pregnancy and it was fun. Now Rylie gets to wear most of the clothes too. Keep stocking up hun, you only have so many babies and should enjoy it the way you want to!

I'm sorry your feelings got hurt. I don't think she intended to do that. Unfortunately during pregnancy, everyone will be trying to tell you what you should do, get, etc, etc. Some is good advice, others not. It's your baby and you deserve to enjoy the moment. You've spent your money wisely and you got stuff you wanted. Try not to her comments get to you.

Aww, I'm sorry she said that. Maybe she just thought it was funny in a sort of cute way that you are so prepared? At any rate, I completely understand! I'm like you and I will buy if I see a great deal. PLUS even though people will buy you clothes, they are going to mostly buy newborn size (so small, so cute) and if you are like me, you've been buying other sizes as well.
I think also some people can be a little selfish that THEY want to only buy cute clothes (which are the "fun" things to buy) and not the practical stuff, but YOU are the mom! And you deserve to have the fun of picking out cute little clothes for your baby!

I'm so sorry she hurt your feelings! I hate when people say things like that!!! I have a friend that thinks she is like the baby genius and tells me what I should and should not buy Landen all the time, its very annoying!
