Once in a blue moon I will buy something off eBay from one of their buy it now stores. I've been happy w/ my purchases thus far. I haven't bought any big ticket items, though, and right now I am kind of looking around for a Dooney & Bourke purse. I've seen a couple that I like from buy it now stores, but I haven't bought anything yet. I'm not going to bid on anything...if I do buy on eBay, it will be BIN. Other than making sure the seller accepts PayPal & checking on their feedback, does anyone have any advice for me not to get duped? Or should I just keep searching to find a good price at a reputable website? I don't really need this bag, but it might be a birthday gift to myself. So yeah, it's not something I NEED to have, just a want.

How come you prefer buy-it-nows?

Make sure they'll ship to HI and make sure the S&H is reasonable -- I'm sure you know that already though.

The thing with designer bags is that there are so many knock offs/replicas. Only bid if there are multiple photos of the bag so you can make sure it's legit. Find out if it comes with the registration/guarantee card or if that's already been registered.

Here is a link to buying Dooney's on eBay that tells you some of the things to look out for and what to ask the seller.

I was going to warn of knock offs also, here you can barely tell the difference and you have to look at the sticking to tell! If you don't mind a knock off send me a picture of the purse and I will see if I can find it for you this week!

Watch for fakes, definately. But sounds like you know a lot already.... def check feedback, if it's an expensive purchase, make sure there's lots and lots of feedback and read through a few pages of them to see if any neutral or neg and what the comments are - even on the positive.
