I don't know if cruising itself is the issue or travel in general, but I took a trip to Vegas when I was about 5 weeks along. Of course, I wasn't really sick in my first trimester, so I lucked out there.

With my last pregnancy - no questions asked! I would have done it in a heartbeat. This pregnancy, I was bedridden with morning, noon and night sickness. My twin sister cruised at 8 weeks with her first pregnancy and just made sure to bring Zofran for motion/morning sickness and was fine! She said one night she couldn't eat dinner but other than that, she did great! I would say go for it, just go prepared! Oh, and colace would be a good thing to take too - she got constipated (as did I) in her first trimester and it was worse on the boat! I hope that helps!

I did all kinds of things in my first trimester with DS. I traveled to PA for thanksgiving, to Washington DS on business, and played in several all day golf tournaments.....Harrison came out fine, and I have high risk pregnancies. I also drank the whole week before I found out I was pregnant - with the blood test at the doctors office surprisingly. I think you'd be okay - unless you were sick like I am this time - I can't go anywhere cause I'm so stinking sick.

Well....i am going to guess you know my answer of traveling while pregnant! My little bean will be in its 4th country next weekend! hahahaha I would 100% be ok with going on a cruise during my first trimester or even 2nd--third they don't let you on. They have a full medical crew on board and there are hospitals on every spot your going-plus in a true life or death situation their are people to helicopter you off the boat if needed.
IS THERE SOMETHING YOUR NOT SHARING?!?!?!? OH a new smiley!

I was just more tired than anything. But on a cruise you can relax alot when you need to.

I would cruise in my first trimester as well. My main concern would be the nausea/morning sickness but I wouldn't let that stop me unless I was really ill from it.

No way I wouldn't cruise. But only because I was sick. And could smell EVERYTHING very strongly, which made me more sick. And I had a lot of cramps if I did too much. Basically, I was miserable! But you know, when my hormones are awry I tend to get emotional, and PMS would give me nausea sometimes too. So I say that if you usually don't get bad PMS and can handle flip-flopping hormones well, then there is a good chance you will be fine!
Besides, you aren't preggy yet so I say GO FOR IT! You can't put your life on hold, and at least cruising is nothing potentially dangerous to a new pregnancy

Well, I had sensitivity to sunlight, and headaches, and cramping, and vomiting. Half the time I did the drunk person sleeping position where you keep one foot on the floor b/c the room is spinning LOL. It would have ruined the trip for me b/c I don't just sit and do nothing on vacations. I can't sit still. I would have slept and thrown up all day and spent a lot of money to do it in a place I couldn't even enjoy. Oh and the bb pain. Mine was horrific until I read about heat packs and after two days of heat I think whatever was clogged got unclogged. I literally sat and cried most of my first trimester. It was bad!
But that is unusual. Blobby had it out for me. Like now I still have nausea, but it is so much more manageable. I mean, I am not throwing up stomach linign anymore which is good!

I wouldn't have but that is just me being a completely overly nervous person. As far as vacations go, I think a cruise is probably the best option to do while preggo. And as the others have said, there is really not a big reason why you shouldn't. You can't really know ahead of time how sick you might or might not feel.
One thing about it, I wouldn't let your TTC plans get in the way of life, kwim? Or more than you can help it! If you are worried about it, you can get trip insurance. If you end up preggo and really sick, just cancel and get your money back.

I have trip insurance, and like Angela, maybe I could buy baby something at one of our ports of call to "remember" the triip??? I'm really glad I'm still "into" TTC so far in.. I mean I fell off track for a while, but it WILL happen!
The cruise is paid for and I wouldn't let that get in my way, I just wanted to hear from the experts if they thought it would be crazy!

oooh! Have fun! I LOVE cruising! Matt and I are going again in February whether pregnant or not. We were TTC on our last cruise, and I discovered that those delicious fuity beverages come in an equally delicious virgin variety. Just make sure to pack motion sickness medication. Which cruise line are you taking? We like Norwegian best for the big rooms they offer.

I probably wouldn't plan a cruise if I already knew I was preggo, but if it happened after the fact, I'd probably go. I am already prone to motion sickness, and I was so sick w/ esp. this second pregnancy. I know I'd definitely have a scrip for something to ease the nausea if I were to have gone. I have never traveled while pregnant before, but I have done it numerous times while sick and last year dealing w/ back pain & in the middle of p/t, and none of that has ever been fun.
Sounds like a fun trip, though!
