When are you due?
Are you going for a natural labor & delivery?
IF you can't handle the natural labor pains, what is your backup plan?
Do you know what you are having? Or will you find out if you have not already?

When are you due? 8/24/2009
Are you going for a natural labor & delivery? I would definitely like to
IF you can't handle the natural labor pains, what is your backup plan? An epidural, but it really is a last resort because i am so scared of needles. Probably more scared of needles than the pain!
Do you know what you are having? Or will you find out if you have not already? I will find out!

When are you due? July 27th
Are you going for a natural labor & delivery? Yes at home or possibly a birthing center (having issues with midwife should know more by Christmas)
IF you can't handle the natural labor pains, what is your backup plan? transfer to a hospital and get IV meds (i will not be doing epidural under any circumstance, I will have general anesthesia if i become a crash c/s)
Do you know what you are having? Or will you find out if you have not already? Nope, nope. Team Green here

When are you due?
I'm due July 5th technically, but with all my high risk factors I'm sure this babywill be born in June (my son was 3 to 4 weeks early)
Are you going for a natural labor & delivery?
If you mean natural as in I will give birth to my own baby ----yes---if you mean natural as in no epidural --- h*ll no ---- I had an epidural with DS from the get go (they induced me so I never felt a single contraction) and I had a beautiful and calm delivery - only pushed for a matter of 20 minutes or so. I hope this one goes the same way.
IF you can't handle the natural labor pains, what is your backup plan?
I'm getting my drugs ahead of time (HE HE HE). I tried to pre-sign up when I went for my hopsital tour with DS - the nurses thought I was a hoot!
Do you know what you are having? Or will you find out if you have not already?
We are for sure going to find out what we are having - and you'll all be a few of the first to know!

When are you due? June 11th or 12th

Are you going for a natural labor & delivery? Yes but I am not going to stress myself over it like it is some kind of "right of passage" or anything. I am well beyond that--there is nothing natural about the conception anyways. I will prepare with hypnobirthing techniques though. It will be fun!

IF you can't handle the natural labor pains, what is your backup plan? Get some meds! The only things I am very much against are staples after a C-section and an episiotomy.

Do you know what you are having? Or will you find out if you have not already? Yup we are finding out!

Michelle - you're so cute - I had an episiotomy and I couldn't even feel it or anything - made the baby pop right out! With my wonderful epidural I didn't feel anything but a little la la la feeling....all of it was much worse on DH with his front row view of it all!

When are you due? May 1st
Are you going for a natural labor & delivery? Yes I'd like to. I still need to look into birthing classes.
IF you can't handle the natural labor pains, what is your backup plan? Um...some sort of drugs. I need to research more I guess. Probably epidural.
Do you know what you are having? Or will you find out if you have not already? I will know in 5 days hopefully! Woot!

LOL. I do admit I have more research to do on episiotomies. There has got to be a case where you most certainly would rather have one then tear, I am thinking. I am going to ask my SIL if she had one too (she is tiny like me, and we have the same OB).

BUT I am so adamant about the staples. Black people, and brown people, do not scar well. Hence why they don't recommend we get laser hair removal. My mom had actual stitches with her C sections and hysterectomy (she insisted many times) and she has the tiniest scar. After her hysterectomy all the other nurses were coming over to check out how great it looked. That is my number one reason to avoid a cesarian actually. Well, that and the experience of natural child birth would be very cool of course!

LOL Angela, I just read your response

My view/experience from being doula/nurse on episotomies...... so imagine you have a t-shirt. Think of your vagina as the neck of the t-shirt. If you pull and pull and pull on it you may get a little tear. If you put a little cut in the neck of the t-shirt and pull on it-the thing tears past the original cut easily.
I am admit about not having one for me....after seeing my best friends and a few patients tear to their rectum after one---and then got stitches for the next 30min-1hr....no thank you... not to mention the months of healing after. I have NEVER seen any women tear past a second degree with no episiotomy (rarely past a first degree)...most just get a couple stitches or some "skid" marks... -i always laugh at that term.
And michelle i'm right there with you on no staples if a c/s is in order for me---but then a crash/emergency c/s has a completely different scare-in a true medical emergency (crash c/s) we cut belly button to pubic bone (not hip bone to hip bone) because its the fastest way to get baby out--- so its going to be ugly already they don't need to make it even worse!

NO STITCHES IN MY HOOHA!! lmao. I concur!

Angela, you be making a lot of sense right now. That is basically what I figured with an episiotomy, but I wasn't sure how badly women usually tear. And as for the staples--let me just tell the universe right now before it screws me over: I would like to avoid staples if at all possible, but realize I control nothing when it comes to emergencies. Don't want to piss off the universe here.

I totally meant to put no STAPLES in my hooha and typed it wrong. I blame my hooha for channeling no stitches vibes to me. Can't say I blame her.

I do think I'd rather tear than be cut.

My perfect birth would involve a very healthy baby, an incredibly stretchy vagina that needs no stitches, and me making it through without passing out

And of course, no staples in the vagina, or anywhere else!

Yeah DEFINITELY NO pissing off the universe vibes to all of us!

Dear Universe-
We humbly request you grace us with no staples if you do feel we need c/s.
Thank you for your time and patience,

I see your points on the episiotomy - I had one and wasn't tearing already when doc decided to do it...he did a very small one to help get babies head out. I didn't tear any bit beyond it - I had stitches that didn't take but a minute to put in and they went away on their own - dissolvable....it really wasn't a bad experience for me. I think you have to go into child birth with an open mind....because you cannot know what's going to happen or how you are going to feel when it comes to the well being of your baby being born....that is my view on it! Overall I guess I lucked out and had a really good experience with things that could get ugly like epidurals and episiotomy's - well at least there is hope right girls!

Dear Universe,

I love you. Let's be BFF. Could you make it so my hooha survives this with relatively few battle scars?

Love,
Shannon

P.S. It might help if I don't have a baby with a 99th percentile head like my Dh's was.
P.P.S. The baby wants a pony.

When are you due? Feb 5th

Are you going for a natural labor & delivery? Yup, but only because I hope and pray that it's fast like Curtis.

IF you can't handle the natural labor pains, what is your backup plan? I'm thinking my other options before epi, no idea what those are but I'm super scared of an epi. Hubby isn't keen on the idea either. Unsure if it's the best decision to give us a healthy baby. We'll see what happens.

Do you know what you are having? Or will you find out if you have not already? I'll find out when baby comes
