So Dh and I are probably getting a new digital camera for Christmas and we wanted it to double as a video camera. We figure we'll get a "real" video camera when baby is older (like elementary school). We just need video for short clips of baby taking steps, saying first words, things like that.
Dh was looking at a 10 megapixel Panasonic Lumix. I read that's what you used to have. Everything looks GREAT about it but Dh said he read reviews that the audio on the video function was really crummy. Like that if someone was more than a few feet away, it wouldn't pick up what they were saying.

Is that true? Dh thinks it's a deal breaker which is a bummer because everything else about the camera looks great and he didn't know of any other cameras in that price range that will do what we want.
