I know there are at least four of us: Katie, Nikki, Angela, and myself. Anyone else using this as a birthing method?
I just received my study materials today (well, technically on Wednesday but I've been on vacation, hehe) and I am so ready and excited to get started tomorrow!!

Yay!!! I am super excited about it....although I lost the headphones to my iPod so I really need to get on the ball with my maintenance program. If you have any questions about your self study program let me know because if I don't know the answer I can always ask my doula about it

I seriously have about eleventy billion iPod earbuds so if you want me to drop a pair in the mail to you, let me know!
I'm gonna flip through the books tonight to get an idea of what all is there, I'll keep your offer about asking questions in mind! Thanks!
Oh, also, have any of you joined the Hypnobabies Yahoo! Support Group yet? GREAT place to ask questions and get lots of feedback!!

Thank you SOOO much for that link! I'm going to check it out tonight. Also, let me share this absolutely wonderful site I found. It's www.pregnancybirthandbabies.com. It has lots of HB birth stories and even videos of HB births. It is very inspiring.
Kate, I'm doing the homestudy as well. It was so much cheaper than the class, and since my doula is the teacher, I knew I could call her anytime to ask questions. I've been surprised, but even my DH likes the program. I fall asleep almost every night to my pregnancy affirmations track. I also like the deepening track.
We do week six starting tonight actually, so maybe we'll listen to fear release tomorrow. With week six, you start the maintenance so that makes me feel like we are finally getting there.
Even if I don't get my all natural birth, I know that HB will get me much further in my dilation than what I could do on my own.
I hypnobabies!

I LOVE the deepening track! It makes you feel soooo good when you're done with it. I also like the creating anesthesia track, that's probably an important one hehe

Well, I'm starting this week and I'm 30 weeks. I figure that will give me plenty of time to get through the course and then have a couple of weeks of maintenance prior to my due date.
Even if I don't get my natural birth, I'm still looking forward to learning some relaxation techniques, ya know? Figure those might come in handy from time to time, pregnancy or not!

I'm not even TTC for another 8 months but just wanted to let you girls know I'm so proud of you for taking a course like this! I'm going to be stalking all of you throughout your pregnancies/child birth to see how you get on and to learn from you all!! I'm so keen to do this when I fall pregnant!

I didn't do hypnobabies but I did hypnobirthing--not sure how different the two are but they can't be that different. Probably same basic principle. I used it with both of my boys and looooovvvvvveeeeeeddddddd it! I wish all you ladies lots of luck!!!
Oh, we started our classes (the hospital I delivered at offered them) when I was about 30 weeks with Liam.

MEEEEEE! I am doing hypnobabies! After the holidays I was going to start ordering my stuff. I'll be sure to join online groups too.
It is part of my whole, "I will go natural but if I can't I can't and it is no big deal" philosophy. That is how I am preparing before I get the tapes with being calm about the whole thing. Once I start the program and get tools I can use for dealing with the pain and entire childbirth process, I am going to get so stoked about labor!

I just completed my first session and it was AMAZING. I'll be honest and say that I went into it questioning whether or not this would actually work for me, but I tried to keep an open mind and the results really surprised me. I can't explain the sensation easily, just a feeling of complete relaxation and as if the "real" world was very foggy and far away. Lee said he thought I was completely asleep and would not have been surprised if I didn't wake up at the end of the cd - but I did! I wasn't sleeping at all, just very, very tuned inward and relaxed.
I'm excited to keep going!!

That's great!!!! That's how I am with the hypnobirthing. When I was in active labor with Lochlann my Mom actually thought I stalled and was sound asleep--until my eyes flew open when my water broke (5 1/2cm) and he was born 50 minutes later!
I hope you continue to like it!!!

Had my second session tonight and again it was very relaxing. I think it actually took me a little longer to go under, partly because I kept thinking, "I wonder when I'll start to go under!", but I feel like it was a much deeper relaxation once I did.
What's really hilarious to me is how well this works on my dog - both nights I've come back to and she is zonked OUT. Good to know she'll also have a "more comfortable and easier birthing"... especially considering she's spayed!!
