Good luck tomorrow. I hope the biopsy says it is nothing. You can never be too cautious with irregular moles though. The deadly form of skin cancer, melanoma, is pretty rare and usually found in much older people. However, basal cell carcinoma (the cancer that doesn't metastasize) is not fatal but always needs to be removed. You did yourself a world of good just by being aware of it and taking care of it ASAP.

Hope its nothing or its the good form of skin cancer. My family has a horrible history of skin cancer...mom/grandma/2 aunts,....I have some precancerous stuff I was suppose to remove aug 07 but never got around to it. (i KNOW bad girl). My family has the "good" skin cancer---they do chemo cremes that just make your skin hurt bad for a few weeks and then thats it! Well besides they have to get checked out all the time now!

Everything went good yesterday, they removed 2 moles yesterday and It will take about two weeks till we know, maybe sooner. I have been putting this off for about 5 months now when I noticed the one mole growing. I thought maybe it was due to the pregnancy and didn't say anything. But then my sister came home for the holidays and saw it and started to freak out. She was the one that was diagnosed with melanoma at 20 this year. She isn't the only one in my family that had melanoma. she went with me yesterday and was such a support with everything, asking all these questions that i would have never have known to ask. I only broke down once, actually going to the doc made this all too real, to know what could really happen. I was told it is only 25% that I could have it due to family history and my own personal history in the sun. (all thouse years in italy on the beach every single day without any protection! ) well like everyone is telling me there is no point in thinking about it till i know for sure. to enjoy the holidays and just forget about it for now. So that is what i am trying to do!

I had a mole that did that while I was pregnant. The dr. told me that it's common in pregnancy. It was benign. Good luck!

Glad you got it removed and are putting it out of your mind for the holidays My man has lots of moles and just had a chunk of skin removed. He has another chunk to be removed in January too. KUP on the results.

Did you get hte results yet? I know the waiting is nervewracking! I really hope it's nothing! I am also a melanoma survivor, I got mine at age 34. There are a few other women here who had it as well, most in their teens and early 20s. IT is the 2nd most common cancer in young women in their 20s/30s....so the comment about it not being common in young people is not true. I just wanted to clarify that so that we all don't take it lightly when we have a mole changing. Odds are yours is nothing. I had many moles change / grow during my last pregnancy by the way and they were benign anyway. Best wishes!
