I have been pumping at work 3 times per day. I'm pumping enough ounces to feed Oliver while I'm at work each day. So far we have not had to go into our freezer stash (we have about 70-80 ounces freezed). I guess I over reacted when I thought my supply was going down. Pumping is sooo boring and such a chore while at work. It's much easier and more enjoyable to BF at home.
Anyone else currently pumping while at work or planning to?

I know I have a loooooong way to go yet, but I'm planning on pumping. I only get 6 weeks off for maternity leave, so I have no choice but to pump if I want to continue bf'ing. It may be a little tough to do while at school, but I'm going to give it a good try.

My goodness, you have a wonderful supply! I pumped occasionally with Curtis but I think it was a mix of a bad pump and I just hated doing it, cause I got like nothing out of it.
I don't think I would last pumping if I went back to work. Kudos to you!!

I plan on pumping exclusively if I am able. Breastfeeding really just is not for me but I want Conner to have the benefits of the milk so I'm going the pumping route. We'll see how it goes

I pumped that while on maternity leave. I would pump when I would wake up engorged in the morning.. Maybe every other day or so for 7-8 weeks..

It's going to be a lot of work to pump and then feed him! It will take twice the time. But, at least he will still get your breatmilk.

I hope to breastfeed someday, but kuddos to you, Resi, for doing something "boring" at work which brings so much nutrition and good stuff to your precious bebe!

I pump at work, but I'm currently in the middle of an anxiety attack because I'm not pumping enough. I was pumping just enough for 4oz bottles, but he needs more than that. DH tried giving him 5oz today and he drained it. I need at least 15oz/day and I'm barely squeaking by. I only have 7oz frozen in my fridge left of my "stash" I bought some Fungeek today....

True, but the benefits of pumping just outweigh the extra time for us. Nic works from 6 am to 4 pm..then goes back at 6 pm for anywhere from 2 to 5 hours. So when he's home, being able to spend time with Conner and feel like he's DOING something (feeding him in this case) is important I think It'll be tough but doable (I hope )

Caitlyn, so you'll pump before each feeding and put it in a bottle?

I'm a pumping mama!! I absolutely hate pumping at work, but I am very thankful that my body responds to the pump and I can do it rather quickly. I agree with you, Resi, it is just soooo much more enjoyable to just nurse him straight from the tap.
Breanna, have you read the article on kellymom.com on bottle-feeding the breastfed baby? If you haven't, you should check it out as it is very interesting and explains a lot about how babies eat differently from a bottle and often their overzealous scarfing of the bottle is misinterpreted as hunger.

Wait till you start smelling like Maply syrup I have to take 10 fenugreeks aday ad those puppys are HUGE! I think Im the only one tht doesn't mind pumping. I feel better when I pump cause I know she's getting. I only have about 20 Oz's in the freezer. Since we're always out and about Im always diggin into my supply.

I know I'm quite a ways away, but I plan on working at least part time which would mean having to pump. I'm glad to hear you are pumping so successfully, it's encouraging! Now I'm just wondering how to get time away to pump on a busy cardiac unit... hmmm

Last time I pumped more than I actually BFd. It was hard, but given Abby's refusal of the breast for weeks, it was my only choice if I wanted her to have breastmilk. I'm hoping now that I'm a little more knowledgeable, I will have it a little easier this time around. I am hoping to start building up a freezer stash after the first month or two...I figure since breastmilk only keeps a few months frozen I won't have to start freezing immediately. I have no idea how I am going to pump at work. I was just thinking about this the other day...I usually have to keep my lunch hour (er, 30 min.) open for detention, tutoring, lunch activities, etc. I only have four days with a prep period, so even if I just did it during then that would so not be enough. Traffic has become an absolute nightmare in the mornings, so I just hope I will have time to nurse at home and then pump when I get to work. Other than that I guess I will have to do lunch (don't ask me how I am going to manage to pump, sterilize everything, pee and eat in 30 min. with no microwave or refrigerator this time around) and hopefully after school if there are no scheduled meetings. I may have to talk to my boss about this in the summer before I come back.
I'm glad it's going so well for you, Resi.
ETA: I couldn't EBF last time and I hope to this time, but I am going to try not to totally get my hopes up because once I go back to work, things will definitely be challenging!
