I was wondering how your SIL is doing since having her baby? I don't remember ever reading an update about it.

I don't know where I left off? She had her little girl at the end of August. About 2 weeks before she was born, she decided to keep the baby and her boyfriend moved into her apartment with her. The in-laws were pretty unhappy about the living together/not being married if you recall. A big deal in Dh's family. Dh's dad took it especially hard. He is a Christian but he grew up in Iran. (OT, our baby is 1/4 Iranian. We make jokes about the baby being a quarter terrorist. ) So FIL grew up with very strong ideas about these type of things.

I think SIL is doing pretty well, she's just been through some of the stuff that all new moms go through, plus financially it's a struggle. My niece is really cute, I've seen her a couple times here recently. SIL and niece still visit with my MIL because MIL feels she should be supportive even if she doesn't support the living together. What's sad is that FIL (SIL's dad) won't speak to SIL and now SIL can't go to family functions when FIL is going to be there. It's a weird divide in the family. SIL is mad that people aren't including her bf in the family (like inviting him to Christmas functions) but the in-laws response is that he really isn't part of the family yet because he hasn't married her and also awhile back he didn't want to meet them.

I'd love to post pics of my niece, I just feel funny posting pics of someone else's kid online. Dh got to see her/hold her last week and it was really cute. She looks a lot like my Dh did as a baby.

Anyway, that's the long update. I hope things eventually change for the better. The babies will be only 8 months apart so my baby will have a cousin close in age, so I hope they can be close. SIL has been really sweet about me being preggo and being excited about it even though I think sometimes she feels a little sad that she didn't actually get to *enjoy* any of her pregnancy. It's a little weird to me (since she's always been the "little" SIL) that she can actually give me BTDT advice about pregnancy/babies but I just have to put on my big girl panties and deal with it.

Thanks for typing all that out for me to read. I hope things get better with her parents. That is so sad. I'm sure she would love for her father to be part of her childs life. Plus, it must be sad not to get to go to the family holiday get togethers.

Oh dear, I hate when families divide over things like this. I hope something works out. It's so sad.
