I was officially 36 weeks yesterday, and had a checkup on Wednesday. He is definitely head down!!! I saw my favorite midwife in the group, so that makes me happy. I am 70% effaced, and no dilation. I went ahead and got checked since I was undressed for the GBS swab, but no more exams until 39-40 weeks. I love that they didn't assume I'd get checked- they asked me if I wanted to. So much different than how I assume the OB's would be. I feel pretty good except for the shortness of breath with activity. My BP was good and my weight gain is up to 17 pounds. My urinalysis didn't look that fabulous- ketones and glucose present. But, I never drink enough water (ketones), and I had a big bowl of sugary oatmeal for breakfast (glucose). So at least there were reasons. My midwife wasn't concerned though.

She was giving him a good feel on my tummy and said she doesn't think he's a very big baby. I'm not expecting a huge one though--my DH and I were both 6 pounders. And we're not big adults either, just two small framed people. I cannot wait to meet him. My official guess date is 1/16, but I'm visualizing my ideal birth on 1/5. We'll see.......

Sounds like things are going great!

You sound like me, I never drink enough I'm getting better though! I'm glad you got on fine! It's nice that they asked if you would like an exam. My midwife said the same, they wuould only offer exam or membrane sweep IF i go overdue and IF i wanted to. It's not compulsary. It's nice to know we have choices.
