I nursed Oliver while shopping for a new car this past Friday. It was an all day thing and I had to nurse him two times in front of two different sales men. I was covered up and didn't think twice about doing it. Before having him I would have though I would be way to modest.
Btw, we didn't buy anything yet.

Way to go!!!!
Before I had Liam I never thought I'd do it either; I thought I'd be too modest and uncomfortable with it. But between him and Loch I've NIP more times than I can count! The first time (Liam was a few weeks old) I was a little nervous but it quickly became second nature. Very awesome that you did it!!!
Good luck with the continued car search!

We went to look at a new Malibu because they are suppose to be rated at the #1 New best family car. We can't afford a Camry so it was the next in line. Turns out the payment for a new Malibu is still more than we want to pay. Now we are thinking about getting a small used SUV.

After giving birth and having a dozen different hands up my hoo-ha at different times, my modesty flew out the window, & ppl seeing my boobies was no big deal after that, lol. Although I have NIP so down pat now that most ppl can't tell I'm even doing it.

I NIP all the time with Emma...I plan to do it with this baby too - but DH has a different plan. It mortifies him that I even have thought about doing it...He doesn't even want me to nurse in front of our bible study members (all couples and most have kids already!)

I'm not sure if my views on BFing in public will change once I have a baby but right now I can't picture myself doing it.
I have no problem with others doing it as long as they cover themselves but I too feel quite modest. I'd probably look for somewhere where I can do it somewhat privately. I don't mind in the car, etc. I'm thinking about pumping and introducing the baby to a bottle after the first 2 months but we'll see how it goes.
Regardless, I don't plan on starving my little one for my stupid pride so if baby needs to feed, I'm sure I'd toss all modesty out of the window and feed her.

What is NIP????
I BF in public all the time, I bought a really pretty brown cover with blue swirls on it! I never thought I would until I had Landen!

I hope to follow in your steps Resi! I can't wait to NIP (Nurse in public)... I registered for a coverup that looks like a thin blanket with a strap around my shoulder. I see my BFF NIP all the time and she is so cool about it people don't even know she's doing it. When we're in a restaurant or shopping or sitting in th car!

Ian doesn't care where or when I nurse. If baby's gotta eat, he's gotta eat! You can still be very modest and NIP with no problems, as I quickly discovered. I've never used a cover either and rarely even use a nursing shirt.
Here's me nursing Lochy only a few days old. I don't think you can even tell!

I'm very glad to see I am not the only mommy or mommy-to-be that is a bit uncomfortable (for myself) with BF in public. I personally am not all that comfortable with BF in general.....just the truth. I have no problem with other people doing it though and if they are in public then I just don't look - I mean just because someone is breastfeeding doesn't mean I have to stand there and stare at them - just walk away or move away. I sacrificed my own feelings to BF DS as long as I could and I will do the same with this baby (DH's orders) - but after about 6 weeks my body just wouldn't cooperate and we switched to formula in bottles - life was good. I think your body often responds to your mental and mine just couldn't get over the hump.

WTG Resi!!
I think nursing covers are an absolute lifesaver, I wouldn't be able to do it without showing my flabby tummy all over, which is not exactly awesome. I just NIP for the first time a couple days ago (in a waiting room) and I had my cover on but this old lady still gave me the stinkeye. Then she turned away from me while I was feeding him...not that anything was even showing!

I was so uncomfortable with nursing in public, in front of anyone!! James helped me though. He was always calm and encouraged me to do what is only natural! He would stop whatever we were doing to make sure I was comfy and could nurse Curtis as long as he wanted.... and trust me Curtis was a marathon nurser!! He loved boobie milk haha.
If it wasn't for James there is no way I could have done it in public in front of family and friends etc.

I'm thinking about getting one of those nursing covers this weekend. I have a nursing tank top. I had it on under a sweater so I didn't show my scary belly. I don't want anyone seeing it after having Oliver. I have a TON of stretch marks.

Ugh, I know my stomach is so gross! I won't even wear a two piece swimsuit so I definitely don't want people seeing it when I'm fully clothed.
I got my nursing cover from a WAHM on diaperswappers, let me know if you want me to find her thread for you! She has some different fabrics to choose from, she makes them to size and they have a thingie at the top so you can look down and see the baby while you're nursing. They have a similar one at Target but it was like $30, she only charges $18 and hers are way nicer.
